I've just installed my new eVGA 8800 GTS 640MB Superclocked.

All is great bar one small odd problem.

On some but not all XVID videos played with VLC I get vertical pink/green corruption just left of centre. If I use the VLC snapshot feature It doesn't capture this corruption so it must be some osrt of overlay distortion

I have removed my nForce and display drivers and used Driver Cleaner. I then tested the video driverless after a reboot and there corruption wasn't there. I then reinstalled version 6.86 nForce 4 drivers, corruption not there. I then installed the 162.18 BETA Forceware drivers for XP and now the corruption is back.

It's strange as similar XVID videos from the same source work perfectly fine.

I've come to the conclusion that this must be a driver issue and that my new hardware isn't borked. Anyone have any ideas?

Rings a bell, try the VLC forums, it may be some setting or your codecs, it can play back in Direct3D or OpenGL modes etc.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

I set VLC to use OpenGL (nVidia's strong point) and everything seems fine.

Thanks!

where is the opengl option?

same problem here, works ok in windows media tho?

Programs>videolan>quick settings>video in the windows start menu or in videolan

settings>preferences>video>output modules and tick the advanced settings box at the bottom to reveal a drop down where you can select the renderer you want
