Well I've just finished reading Raising the Bar and its reminded me why I love Valve so much. I really wish more developers would do this kind of art book (looking forward to the DMC 4 art book 
), I find them fascinating views into the game design and development process. Would be great to see more games use the commentary nodes used the Orange Box as well.

I think that raising the bar is ok, it has some great chapters, but also some really bad ones.
The Mass Effect book has very little writing in my opinion, which is annoying as a whole of just pictures can get boring.
The Assassin's creed one is the best i think, very nice art and some good insights in to the concept stages!
these last two can be found for new for VERY cheap if you shop around, mine were £5.99 each

Well the DMC 4 art book is a little disappointing. Some nice art, but theres no text in the book at all, not even an intro.
