Virgin Broadband Query

just ring them and ask for a discount, thats all i said and got £3.50 knocked off monthly bill, its better than nowt, didnt even push for more

I've been a cable customer since the day NTL landed on our street, as ntl changed over those years we got updates to our bills and even a phone call to adjust our monthly tariffs either reducing or giving us better Internet or tv updates etc. Even Cs with other companies with O2/ gift gaff check your monthly usage etc. When ntl became VM its been utterly down hill since then, especially CS, and where day old customers are offered everything, yet customers from day naught are offered nothing, but doesn't seem right.

Existing customers get access to certain offers before they are available to new customers. For example the collections were available to existing customers before new customers.

Also the data protection laws have probably changed over the years. Companies are not allowed to just contact customers with new deals. I think you have to opt in but not 100%. Im sure there will be some DP gurus on here

An update for you guys!

Phoned them and they have increased my speed to 100MB for free, so I still pay £40.25 but I get 100MB.

Not gonna complain at that!

They do need to send a tech guy out tho as my net went down again and he said it looks related to power level problems.

Any idea what that means / involves for when the bloke turns up on wednesday?

Tech turns up. Checks power. Adjusts power. Checks connection. Leaves :)

Power is the amount of signal received. It's basically the signal level.

The difference being higher is not always better. If your connection is dropping then you probably have a high upstream power level which would cause your modem to have to work hard to reach the UBR hence it drops out from time to time but it might not be that. Cant really say without seeing them
