Does such thing exist? thinking of ditching my freeview card and paying virgin for a few channels if it's possible to control it with Media Centre

I want to go from the wall point to my pc, not into virgin media box to pc

If you mean a digital card which can decode the signal coming down the cable and effectively replace the STB, then no such thing exists I'm afraid.

There are ways around this though.

I have the RGB SCART output from the STB going to an RGB to S-Video convertor and then into a Hauppauge PVR250 card. I realise that this chain represents a digital-analogue-digital conversion but the quality is surprisingly good.

I use the IR transmitter that comes with the remote control pack for MS Media Centre to control the STB as required, in conjunction with a RedEye IR convertor to make it compatible with my Pace box. This also works very well and almost never fails to change the channel correctly.

This system has been operating 24/7 for well over three years now and I wouldn't be without it.

Is it a pc card type freeview card...like nebula or something they work fine with cable out the wall.....it may take some figuring out to get the video and sound but it will work..I have done it with a few cards.

digital cable won't work with a freeview card. if u had a analog / digital combo card then yes it'll pick up the analog cable channels...

i've currently got it working through the ntl cable (but i'm not subscribed to anything, only internet) i just cut the cable i had there when i moved in, and put a normal tv aerial connector on the end and it transmits what seems to be freeview, missing a few channels :)

yeah thats using a analog card right?

Does your media center play free-to-air HD content now, like BBC-HD?

You use Vista?
the hd channels plays using CyberLink PowerCinema, not media center or wintv. because hd broadcast is mp4... i receive 2 free hd channels at the moment, bbc hd and luxe tv hd but itv are planning to bring a hd chancel this year for freeview satellite..

the hd chancel have a great picture... but it seem the bbc hd are broadcasting at 1948x1080:confused:
