Virgin Internet offensively slow in the evenings

the guy above posted that its 25% of the connection. so for a 10mbp it becomes 2.5mbp download, for 20mbp it becomes 5mbp and for the 50mbp it becomes 12.5mbp. all of which are still perfect for browsing the web.
i do admit the pings are bad and sometimes website dont load or timeout but tbh for a service im paying £12.50 for 10mbp internet plus the phoneline at £11.99 its not that bad.

I pay £17.88 for my 24m/bit connection with BE* of which I get about 18-19m/bit then £12 for phone line (I will even be negotiating a cheaper price when i move house).

thats a little over £5 pound more for a service with faster speeds, no drop outs, no traffic shaping and extremely helpful staff....I dont know how you can consider the service you get "not that bad". I deffinately win on all fronts there

I think the "you get what you pay for" mentality is a load of cobblers and that people only accept this because of the amount of crap we are used to getting from oversized companies who take advantage of their market domination.

Something has happened to our Virgin line in the last few days. Often dropping out and disconnecting, yet sometimes its fine. It seems to change every 10 mins or so.

I'm glad I'm not the only person with this.

It's happening to me all the time, most nights, the laptop will just show no connection, then it's back on again.

I'm close to exploding with frustration due to this poor connection recently.

And I do not buy this "you get what you pay for" crap, I pay for a solid 10Mbps service, I expect to receive that whenever I need to use it, I did not barter for this price, this is the price they place on their service.

It seems a very strange coincidence I get the nice new 1Mbps upload (which always works great) and I get hammered/problems with my download.

im happy to accept the connection as it would cost me to get a bt line installed again no doubt. thats the easiest option for the gf and the reason why virginmedia are my provider, also in the past in my old flat they were perfect and compared to where i used to live far faster. my old town arbroath still has a 8mbp limit while here in glasgow its upto 24mbp with bt/etc services and 50mbp with virginmedia.

i know everyone does consider BE to be a great company and i dont doubt them, i just went with whats easiest, as i can get tv/phone and broadband from one company and as said the gf didn't want the hassle of having 3 different providers for tv/broadband and phoneline.
