Virgin media and dlink dir 615 reporting a ip address

connecting on my active sessions list with the address 194.168.4.100 now i have nothing of that nature connecting to my router only one wired connection ....anyone have a idea why this ip will be connecting ....thanks

Do you have security features enabled on the router? If you think someone may be piggybacking on your internet then perhaps MAC filtering is the way to go. Just add all your devices MAC addresses to the list and the router will only allow internet access to those listed devices.

its there when i turn wireless off....my network in the usual 192.168.1.100...this one is 194.168.4.100 cant see where it belongs on my router.

192.168.4.100 is the IP address of VM's primary DNS server on their network

192.168.4.100 and 192.168.8.100 are Virgin DNS server addresses.

If fluff means MAC filtering on its own isn't a good security measure then he'd be right I suppose, however WPA2 or whatever other security plus MAC filtering won't cause any issues so long as you remember to add new WiFi MACs to the filtering list.
