Well Virgin finally came around today and now I have broadband and phone through them. Took me a while to get the wireless to work properly, changing it from Automatic channel to Channel 6 seemed to do the trick though.
The problem I now have is that the router now resides in the living room, directly behind the TV, which itself sits in the corner of the room, at a 45' angle on top of a cabinet. It seems that when the TV is off the wireless is nice and quick, but when the TV is on it wrecks it. I guess it doesn't like being sat directly behind the LCD TV??
The cable that runs from the cable port in the wall to the router is only about 1m long (nice and generous of the install guy!) so at the moment I can't really position it in many other places. What type of cable do I need to buy if I want a longer one? Its the type with threads on each end?
Cheers
