First of all not sure which forum to put this in so I've opted for this one:p.

If its wrong feel free to shift it!

Basicallly moving into a house which has virgin. Always been sky myself but ,always up for a change.

I'm liking this bundle
3 for £30
12 month contract

Broadband
Size: M

TV
Size: L

Phone
Size: M

V+ £5

However I want l BB. Juts wondering if anyone has any knowlege of if they create a deal for you if you ring up etc ?

I thought V+ was free but it appears they charge £5. Also is the v+ box HD ready ??!

Can get sky+ 8 meg BB and bt line for £35. So which one you lot reckon is the best deal

Sky seems more to setup £129 while virgin is £45 once got your discounts.

Any help would be great :D

They suck. I hate them with a passion. They took over Telewest who were the best provider ever. Now most of the time its like 56k and i get "traffic shaped" all the time dropping my speeds to crippled levels.

If i ever saw Branson in the flesh i would go all Mark David Chapman on his ass.

/Rant Over

I honestly didn't notice the switchover.

I'm on 2 for £20. Gives me 24/7 phonecalls to 01/02 numbers, 2mb Broadband (which is fine for what I use it for) and a free basic TV package. What actually clinched it for me was a completely free install cost. I know if anything breaks that it'll get replaced.

call up, theres always various other deals available on the phone

L BB is going up to 10mb soon too so try work that into the deal.

DONT DO IT DONT DO IT DONT DO IT!

They are appauling! Service is down more than its up, speeds are never constant, and the customer services is still seperated into Blueyonder, ntl, telewest, etc etc. I been though 4 seperate customer services staff before hanging up on them before!

Signed up in september, still have no email or online account details, Spend all the time on the phone on hold. Just sent another (about the 10th since september) email to them about the speed issues. The rest were either answered a month later with no information, or ignored.

Get ADSL.

It probably speaks volumes for the service with it being so inconsistent, but it must be about 8 or 9 years since my parents (when I lived at home) first moved onto NTL and any problems I've had in that entire time (either at home or my personal account) have been solved quickly - and has mostly been very good value.

All exisiting customers appear to be getting a good deal. It appears everyone ive spoken to with issues is a new customer since it became Virgin Media. They just havent got them selves organised to work as one. I wouldnt recomend them to anyone!

VM works fine for me, net is great never have problems with it. TV works fine as well as phone.

The same, had no real problems at all.

I've only ever had one problem is when my Set Top Box stopped making an IP for my PC. A quick call to customer service and a Engineer came around to fit a dedicated modem.

Even got £10 knocked off the monthly bill due to some sort of voucher codes.

Also i dont download enough to be affect by this traffic shaping :p

virgin media customer support is the worst ever,

but the service is top notch,

had v+ since the trials and it cant be faulted and nothing beats hitting the torrents at 2000k/s :)

I am a new customer, personally. But have had use of NTL/Virgin services for a long time. As I said, it speaks volumes that the service is so inconsistent for a lot of people; some find them excellent, others atrocious.

I think that one of the things people have to remember, is that VM uses multiple connection methods... and most of the people that have real problems with their service, are on the DSL network, and not the cable network (I say most.. not all)

God, don't get me onto VM.

For the last month our internet connection has been constantly dropping off and then coming back on again. Every time we call them, they pass us around in circles, like tonight for instance. It's difficult to try and plan an online game :(

But, when everything does work, it's alright!

This has been posted while I have been lucky to get a connection for atleast 5 minutes!

The V+ box is HD but at the moment the HD content is very limited (IIRC they've got movies HD and BBC1 HD as well as some on demand but that is about it for now).

Personally I've had barely any trouble with them apart from equipment failures, acts of god and the like.
However CS is very hit and miss, and I am on cable rather than DSL.

The thing to watch is if you are a heavy user the lower BB tiers are probably going to get throttled duing the afternoon/evening (i've yet to be throttled despite being a fairly heavy user of youtube etc but i'm 20mb), and schedule downloads for outside of the throttling times.
Also if you're in a student heavy area your speeds are likely to be worse.

SO is the v+ box Hd???

Also any tips for eeking out good deals??

It is, but I think there's only currently 1 HD channel - BBC HD.

I rang up and basically told them I had a special offer from Sky after being recommended by my Dad who is a Sky customer. I just asked them to beat it. Got me free installation and a reduced price on the V+ and 4mb BB, but I was only fussed about spending £20 a month. Got all the services I needed for that.

I think you have more leverage once you've been with them 12 months, cos you've then got the power to walk. Retentions have been known to hand out some scorching deals, although they're only worth what you need.

I've had no problems with VM at all. Broadband is fine, V+ is great and anythime I've had to call CS they've sorted my problem out quickly and only had to wait a day when my modem packed in & they sent a guy out to replace it.

The HD channels are limited though but I'm stuck in the stone age & haven't got an HDTV so doesn't affect me anyway. There's alos other HD content such as films etc.. if it's your thing.

I'd recommend them.
