Virgin Media Discussion Thread

that looks pretty similar to my graph.

i had assumed it was because some idiot had drove through my wall with the cable running through it and damaged it slightly.

At least I'm not the only one then, looks like they have some major network problems to me lets hope they sort it asap because game servers have gone form 20ms ping to 110ms!

Had 152mb fibre installed earlier today but my speedtest shows the following:

This is over wireless, but its connected at 400mbps as the router is in the next room. Theres also no other wireless networks in range of all 3 of my wireless devices that are broadcasting SSIDs anyway. Any ideas?

Also check if you have put 60Mb into your QOS settings.

The superhub doesn't have QOS settings though as far as I can tell? Current speedtests today are all around 100-105mbps download with the upload always at 12.11mbps, so getting there lol.

What speed do you get with an ethernet connection.

VM just lie

Switched to VM in Dec 2013 after leaving in March 2011 because the never sorted of a utilisation fault.

now I've had a utilisation fault since March 2014, they've told me loads of times they are upgrading the node I'm connected to (Lichfield) and by 24/9/14 it will all be sorted and I'll get the 150MB boost as well.

Today I was getting 0.1 MB, after a router reboot, 3.3MB.

After a phone call I was told March 2015 it will all be sorted.

So 12 months of crap BB out of an 18 month contract, maybe 15 months based on them never fixing the issues.

As soon as I can I'm off and I'll never have VM ever again.

You should be able to claim back your money... I mean it should be legal. Maybe consult Citizen's Advice?

What routes are people taking to get money off when they're not getting the advertised speeds? My line is good for 152Mb, I get it some of the day, usually when I'm not at home. However when I'm ever actually using it I can easily be trundling along at 30mb/s. I have logs over the past month of speed tests done during peak times showing large fluctuations in speed - Do I have any recourse or does this fall into the 'Speed up to XXmb' clause?

You can only claim back so much on you broadband bill.

So far I'm basically getting £25 off my bill every month. But I basically have to phone up every month to get it.

Since I left Sky less than 12 months ago I can't return as a new customer yet, so it's basically suffer VM until, December and switch back to Sky.

If VM try and enforce the remainder of my 18 month contract then I'll consider contacting Trading Standards.

I'd rather have the constant, rock solid 35MB with no disconnects and zero loss of speed, I used to get from Sky, than what I get from VM

I'm getting the same issues mate. 152mb contract, but i'm on 5mb at peak times. I wouldn't mind and would understand if it was capped at like 30mb and was at least consistent. But 5!?! and a really scatty 5 at that. Pings going up to 50ms etc :(

issue with superhub 2 and 100meg apparently, my and my neighbour are experiencing reallly slow speeds (up to 100kb a sec if we are lucky)

Called VM and they said its a known issue and an update should be rolled out asap to the SH2.

I'm in oxford too, if anyone else is having issues?

I've had a superhub 2 for a while now, gives a few more options than the superhub 1 but the inclusion of a usb port or two on it would have been nice.

I found with virgin that if you have a few splitters on the line in that swopping over the PC line with the TV line can improve your connection speeds which is all good if you spend more time on the PC rather than the TV.

If you have a look at the splitter/s then some have a +4db and others different.

Anyone know how long the 'recommend a friend' £50 takes to be credited?

I recommended someone who was connected about 15th September but my last bill dated Middle of October had no discount on it yet!
