Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Are you using VM DNS?

I am as of tonight as I've just upgraded to the latest AC68U firmware. I was using Google's DNS servers but I don't see how the DNS servers would correlate to sustained transfer speeds being slower (Youtube/Play Store).

FWIW it makes no difference in practice having tested it earlier anyway.

From time to time 3rd-party DNS servers have been know to point users at a foreign CDN instead of a local one.

I'm getting YouTube buffering as well which is a repeat of what was happening around a year ago. Looking on the Virgin community forums, others are getting the same issues as well.

Yeah I posted here and then read some comments above and went to the forums... how do I change my DNS to Virgin's?

If only some slow Youtube downloads were the worst of my problems. 10+ days of connection which drops every few minutes. :(

Technician which came out on Saturday confirmed that it is 'network issues' rather than anything specific to my line/property, despite the service status continuing to confirm that I have 'good broadband'

Yeah, right...

Okay, you win... or lose...

My connection has been dog toffee all day. Lag in BF4 even though I have 15ms ping, downloads seemingly killing the connection, having to reboot my modem to cure it then it comes back. Now downloads are jumping between 1MB to 18MB...

I was on the Big Kahuna Bundle for £61 inc line rental. They wanted to add £4.50 onto the monthly price. I complained and am now on the following:
Big Kahuna Bundle - £51 inc line rental.
£75 bill credit
Free upgrade to Superhub 2ac

To get this I compared them to BT in reagrds to the AC router and faster upload. This got me the reduction of the monthly cost and the free router upgrade. The £75 was to cover any future price increases as I noted they keep upping the price.

Hi guys had 50mb installed but they gave me an old 480 modem but i cant get full speed over wireless i am only getting 30mb instead of 53mb that my main PC gets which is hard wired to the 480.
I have tried 2 usb Ethernet adapters one 150mbs and the other is 300mbs but still cant get over 30mbs also i have tried all channels 1-13 on the 480 with no luck.
I spoke to virgin on line with no luck there not interested in giving me the new superhub as they say it wont make any difference also they say i am not entitled to one on my package which is just just 50mb broadband.
Any advice guys thanks.

Is this 30mb over wifi when you're stood right next to it?

Anyone using the latest Superhub AC?

Got issues when I set the wireless speed to 1.3Gbps, keeps dropping out, otherwise works fine when set to 600Mbps(albeit slower network transfers).
