Virgin Media usees cheap marketing...

Welll yesterday i saw a deal on virginmedia internet. 17 quid per month for broadband for the next 12 months. It was ment to end 31th midnight. They changed it in the morning! Also, they had a deal of a bundle of cable tv and internet for 25quid. They downgraded the internet on that deal early to.

My dad is still arguing with them over the tv but we did manage to get the cable broadband for 17 quid a month for the next 12 months. Which is a good deal but not so happy about their marketing ploys. It took a lot of arguign to get them to admit that they did infact have this offer up. They still dont wana hand up the TV like it said.


So should i be glad i will have 4Mb virgin cable in 2 weeks time or am i going to have to get shot by my parents who wanted to get Be 20Mb but less reliable and i beleive we live in a bad area of ADSL...
 
If you download during peak times you will be capped to 2MB after downloading 750MB and your upload speed halved.
 
Only the top 5% of people downloading over the limits have that happen and these top 5% are downloading into the gigabytes so im sure ill be ok and im not a heavy downloader. I only download a few game trailers every now and again.

That top 5% is rubbish, everyone is capped during peak times:mad:

have used telewest for almost 10 years, it took VM 2 mins to spoil it.

Tbh that happens with all isp and i think its even worse on adsl. Right now im trtying to watch some funny vids on youtube and just typing "weird al" in the search and i have to wait about 10 mintues for the results to come up! Bloody rediculas!
 
Blueyonder was perfect, Only had 1 Down day in almost 10 years & never capped & always enjoyed great Pings, Virgin Media has destroyed everything BY had built up, all in the name of there stupid lets fool the customer 3 for £30 deals.

Its not what it used to be, i'm just annoyed that new customers get a better deal:(
They have started traffic shaping all to bring down the price, i'd rather pay that little more than be resticted but whats the point in paying for a faster connection if your going to hit the cap limit quicker Reducing your speed of your connection, might aswell have the slower connection & pay less in the 1st place.

Technology is supposed to get better not worse.

Not wanting to put you off, probs is still one of the better isp's but not as good as it once was.

I just come from aol who the last few years has constantly dissconnected me. But now just as i deside finaly to change its achualy not dissconected me in a few months lol. But still im getting 4mb cable for the price of 1mb dodgy adsl from aol who can eat my balls as far as customer support is concered. Ive never had such a big arguement down the phone before.


"Why do you constantly keep disconnecting me" ... "try deleating your cache as it can slow down your internet". WHAT! (needless to say i tried to no avail)

LOL, they really are clutching at straws. Clueless

even with the recent changes VM cable is a big move up from AOL
 
you can tell virgin media is going down hill. Not by the ammount of complaints, but the fact that they started by doing adverts with uma thurman in, and now they are using ruby wax.

BY were going to implement the system anyway BEFORE Virgin Media took over.

Oh come on I still have a great connection. VM have changed hardly anything - the only thing I can think of is the look and brand of the company. Also making a unified billing system and merging NTL with BY.

I can have 26 minutes of full usage of my 2MB line until the throttling kicks in (350MB cap), not great tbh.

Im on 2Mb and its unlimited usage i think. Certainly havent noticed any throttling and ive downloaded a lot this month with the Bioshock and MOH demos

VM's customer support isnt any better

I maybe wrong but i think it is outsourced to india or somewhere, as im never able to understand them.
