i signed up to the 20meg broadband service with virgin and it got activated on Thursday 31st.

www.speedtest.net results where
ping: 63
download: 0.25
upload: 0.61

i rang virgin and they said i would have slow internet sometimes and quick at others. as they are running tests to find my stable speed. but it cant take this long, can it? i have been monitoring this over the course of the day everyday and it doesnt seem to be faster. if anything its slower.

any ideas on what i should do.

eg. turn router off
ring virgin up and complain....

internet browsing and facebook are real slow at time. you see it more when loading aps on facebook. havent downloaded anything but adobe flashplayer took a good 15-20 mins download. well its running through a standard bt box so i would say ADSL, please correct me if im wrong
 
DSL can take a few days for your connection to 'learn' its fastest, but I would expect it to be quicker then 0.25, unless your a long way from the exchange or a v. bad line
 
but surely i shouldn't be getting download speeds of 0.25. a friend told my that they told him after 10 days his internet speed will be running at an average speed. so i think im going wait till then and then ring them again see what's going on

a lot of people on VM seem to be experiencing slow internet since the beginning of the Xmas holidays, particularly in the midlands areas (myself included)

my VM is usually really fast but the past week and a half its been really poor...

i saw a post here from someone that said they had spoke to some VM tech's and that the problem was going to be addressed on the 4th (Monday)

if I were you id wait till then or Tuesday to see if that is your problem before doing anything else
 
Can you post your routers line stats? You can normally predict what kind of speed you are likely to get.
 
We need Attenuation and Noise Margin etc

Just upload a screenshot to something like imageshack and then pic the like to the image like this:

I've had cable from them for about 6 months and can't say I've ever had a problem with them.

I get similar results to Mainhead, but i always get the full 20 to Birmingham or Sittingbourne...

Im sure the mainhead server cannot handle the speed, I never get above 13/14000kb/s from it. Always max out on any of the other British servers.
