Hello my girlfriend who is australian is over in england on a 2 year visa of which 1 year officially she can work.

She has been over here since the end of the march and i have been with her since a week after she got here. As the obvious worry arrises at some point she will have to go home, ideally it would be perfect if she could stay here the full 2 years, but she has been working since she got here and is about to go permanent as a perms resourcer at a recruiment consultancy company (spring personnel, london).

So basically we want to know is it likely for her company to sponsor her, or indeed any company as i have heard this is possible, also how much would it cost a company to keep someone in work?

I do plan to go over to australia when ive saved hard etc, but ideally wouldnt want to go over there for another 18month - 2 years. As i have just started a job and i want to gain some valuable experiance before i do any kind of travelling.

Just want to know if any of you have had any experiances with visas and sponsorship, as this is a very pressing concern for the both of us as she could be out of work by next june.

Has she tried calling the Australian embassy to see what they say, they may be able to assist with the right contact details for people to talk to about Visa extensions (happens all the time, but at a guess she is here on a holiday/student visa? She may need to apply for a change to the Visa to allow her to work)
