ok guys this is nothing major but i am a perfectionist :D

i have vista x64 Home premium running on my rig in sig, and i have my 36gb raptor as the os drive and my 250gb seagate 7200.10 for storage of everything else.

sometimes when i try accessing a folder that's in my seagate's hard drive it takes a couple of seconds to spin up and kind of get a mini screen hold? is this normal or is it something within vista that kind of puts the hard drive that's not being used on standby?

The default power scheme for Vista does turn off the hard discs after a certain amount of inactivity. You can adjust it to your needs by typing 'power options' into the start menu, then click change plan settings.

I had the same prob, my 2nd hard drive would sometimes spin up during games and cause it to hang for a short time. I tried changing the power options but that still didn't fix it. My solution was (after a lot of frustration) to uninstall Vista 64 update KB938979, now back to normal.

Try the power options first as mentioned by andshrew, if that dont work, unistall KB938979.
