just about to install vista and i'm having second thoughts,

currently running xp sp3 quite happily(although doing a reinstall to freshen things up)

so its a straight choice between

xp sp3 and vista

tell me guys what benefits are there to changing apart from the aero looks?

If you are unsure then dual-boot. Its really simple. I'm on vista 64bit and have no problems at all. I've got a dx10 graphics card and 4gig RAM so may aswell make the most of it.

Vista is very good. Go for it. The only thing you may get is the odd box like 'Has this program installed correctly?' after you install a program, weird things you dont see on xp. Apart from that, i really have no trouble with it. I have installed it on 2 different spec'd machines and there have been no software or hardware compatibility issues.

I'm the same - highly recommend taking this route.
