Hi what happened is i had XP home edition on my pc , got VISTA so i reformated one of my partitions ,deleted it , made a new one , now when i Insert vista CD boot from it , i see the message at the beginning loading files for like 15-25 seconds , then next screen i see is dark screen with text Microsoft Corporation , after that i see blueish , green Vista screen but nothing on it , i wait i wait , but nothing . No sign of any life,so i stuck there, is the CD DAMAGED ? OR wt .. ? IS HAPPENING ? Never had a problems with XP !
Please need your asistance my 2900XT is waiting right here to be installed as well :/

Edited: I installed my XP on it again , replaced CD with my Vista CD booted from it and all the same ,stuck at the same place i was trying maybe i could overwrite it but nothing , then what i did is i opened my CD drive and it showed me a new screen ,and it did let me choose Language etc, state ,and keyboard layout , so i picked that put my CD back in , and next what i saw was on the left side of the screen there was repair option and in the middle of the screen was Install Vista , so i pressed Install and now i am waiting on the screen which says ''Please Wait...... for like 25 minutes and no change at all ! Whats wrong is the CD damaged ? or any ideas at all plz ?

As far as i know before intaling it should me really ask on which partition i want it , but i havnt seen any of thous screens, so i am still looking at that dead screen and don't understand whats wrong ,:S

EDITED : Now i opened CD drive again and saw on screen Select the driver to be instaled so it is scanning for something , and i see the process on the bottom Collection information stage 1, and stage 2 installing Windows is still far away , and i know that after scanning it will stop and i will be in same position when before :S , i am so confused, it must be CD defect , i really don't understand !
Any help would be highly appreciated

cheers

Make sure your PC is not overclocked in any way when you install Vista. From the sounds of the problem however in particular to opening the CD tray and it loads the screen in, I'd say that it's spinning the CD up but unable to read from it and keeps spinning up until you stop it and it presets you with a screen. So I'd try another DVD Drive if you have one lying around, see if that helps. If not then I'd consider that there might be a problem with your Vista DVD.

Well the first thing I would do is try to get ahold of a secondary DVD-ROM driver and see if that installs Vista okay :) I'm more leaning towards the DVD Drive being at fault because the legitimate Windows disks are generally very sturdy and don't fault easily with scratches. If you have one lying around then that would be great, otherwise you could check the MM or maybe ask a mate if they have one you can borrow for a few hours to test it out. If the new drive still doesn't let you install Vista and you get the same issue with then I would consider taking your Vista DVD back to the place you got it from and ask for a refund / exchange.
