This must be why my webcam crashes the system when I try to set it to 1280x1024.

I can't remember how to see the model of my mobo in vista, could someone tell me so that I could see if they have vista drivers so that I wont have this problem anymore? :D

I had this shortly after installing Vista. I resolved it by physically turning off the power to my PC for a short time. I found that on Google as it worked for other people. Interestingly it has not recurred since.

It permenently recognises it as usb 1.1. THe camera caushes a blue screen if I try to use it at higher than 800x600.

I need to know how to see what model the motherboard is in vista. How do I do it?

Oh right, sorry.

Have you checked your BIOS to see that USB 2 has been enabled?

I'm not sure that Vista itself can identify the model of your motherboard, but I'm sure somewhere here can recommend a web site or software that will do.

try doing an update driver on the 'usb host controllers' in device manager, usb2 is shown as 'enhanced' so try updating all of them until one changes to enhanced

and check bios, some have an option to only have usb1 (sometimes known as fullspeed) -hispeed is usb2

If none of the other suggestions work and you still you need to identify your motherboard then try CPU-Z from here > http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
