Vista not detecting my dvd drives.

Hi,

I have two dvd drives which are all connected up and can be detected in the bios. But in Vista they do not appear in my computer but they do in device manager. For them it gives the following error,

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

Anyone have any ideas? I have tried using the driver update for the drives themselves so far.
 
Rest of system details? Could be something as simple as a system driver issue.

A system I built recently for a friend kept 'losing' the dvd drive and the 2nd hard disk (both sata). Turned out it was the Intel Chipset driver at fault.
