I'm guilty of running Windows Vista with only 512mb RAM :D

Even with the Aero desktop it'll multitask between Dreamweaver and Photoshop quite well. Certainly better than I ever remember XP being able to.

I ran vista on 512mb of ram for a few months. was fine.. it just got a bit slow with lots of things running thats all. perfectly usable tbh

some people only want to browse the web and use word occasionally. 512mb would be fine for that, although maybe a bit slow for what us lot are used to.

It's much better than XP with 512mb that's for sure. I set up a laptop at work and installed everything I do on the standard XP machines (testing for compatibility and so on) and it just laughed. Was a touch slow loading due to the 4,200rpm hard-drive, but standard performance was excellent for such a low-end system - perfectly usable.

I'll admit it wasn't running Aero though - was some random SiS graphics chip - the 661 if my memory serves me right.

Am running Vista on 512Mb ATM...waiting for my Geil to RMA :(
It's not too bad. In fact, I find it speeds up a bit the longer you keep the system running. Plays COD1 ok :D
