I'm having a few problems with Vista 64 that I hope OcUK can help me with.

The spec:

AMD 64 X2 4400
4GB RAM
Gigabyte 780G MoBo
Sapphire 4850 512MB
160GB HDD

I reloaded Vista Ultimate 64 without any problems. Then installed the latest Catalyst drivers. Then installed the NIC drivers so I could download Firefox etc.

Downloaded firefox which worked OK for a few minutes then I had a BSOD memory dump. On rebooting, Firefox takes minutes to load or doesnt at all. So I uninstalled and reloaded withe the same results.

Overall the PC feels sluggist compared to before.

Could someone in the know give me an idea of what order I should install updates, drivers and programs etc.

Are there any known problems with the Gigabyte 780G MoBo where I need to install chipset drivers etc?

Any help is really appreciated :)

Right I've reinstalled, loaded the chipset driver, full windows update and installed the latest catalyst drivers. All seems OK except the graphics are a little jerky and sometimes leave tails when dragging a window around the screen.

Any ideas?

have you update any patch via Windows Update after you install Vista 64? if not then you need to update that fix the patch. SP2 is not yet until Q2 2009 (April-June) as SP1 is current version.

I turned Aero 'on' and it seems to be working fine now!?!?

Thought that would have slowed things down rather than speed them up?

braveheart - All fully updated and patched.
