New build as per spec' below.

Went to install Vista Ultimate 64.

Error "Windows cannot open the rquired file D:\Sources\Install.wim. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart installation. Error code: 0x8007000D"

Contacted Overclockers as I thought it may be a faulty disc and was told abruptly "Not our problem, contact Microsoft"

Been on the phone to Microsoft for hours and they had no joy. Latest was a similar case where the DVD Rom or CD Rom was faulty and causing the exact same error.

Microsoft did say there was an issue with ram and asked me to pull two of the 2GB sticks and try again but no joy.

Anyone with similar issues or any ideas? I don't have a spare CD / DVD Rom
drive to try.

I know you guys like a challenge so please help me get my rig up and running so I can try some overclocking (Noob).

Try installing with 1 stick of RAM. Try all sticks in turn. If you can borrow a mates DVD of Vista try to install from. If it works:D if not it is a hardware issue.
Try an IDE DVD drive if yours is SATA.
@ HarryPainful OP says its retail

My DVD drive is IDE and the other one I have is ******.

Tried with one stick of ram - no joy. Haven't tried each in turn yet.

None of my mates would have a vista 64 disc.

May see if I can get a drive on loan.

The Vista is retail and comes with a 32bit disc also which does work fine with all 6GB of ram installed.

Tried copying the disc to a USB pen drive on my laptop but when I connected it to the laptop it installed a driver so I didn't hold out much hope for booting the new rig from the pen drive. Sure enough when set to boot from "Removeable" in the Bios it froze.

Does sound like a faulty disk TBH if the 32 bit one works. Also it might be good idea to fully star out the sweary, the mods don't like it the way you left it;)
Also you could try copying the disk onto a PC with Vlite and burning another ISO

Oh, missed the 32-bit installing fine during my skim read :D

I'd still get the RAM tested though, the majority of install failures I've seen have been a result of unstable RAM, could be just voltage and timings need setting to fix this by the way.

Ran the memory test that is available as part of the install and it passed ok.

As far as the memory timings / voltages, I have so far left those as auto / default.

Should I manually set these? I think my ram is 7-7-7-24. Should I set these manually or even set them higher / slacker?

As for voltage they mention 1.65V but obviously the lower the better. The mobo recognises the ram as a default 1333Mhz although it is 1600Mhz so I imagine I should just leave the lower settings at the moment until I get the install done?
