Hi all,

Noddy question really - currently have a Vista64 machine and the hard drive is at 80% so was wanted some opinions on way forwards to W7 64

Option 1 - buy an upgrade CD - do the upgrade and then add a new hard drive to the system to migrate all the docs onto (not sure here if a clean install is better than the upgrade?)

Option 2 - buy new hard drive - disconnect my Vista64 drive and connect new drive - do a straight W7 64 install onto it - then reconnect my Vista64 drive and somehow have dual booting capability until I copy what I need from the Vista disk onto the W7 disk ( i have a lot of work apps I may need to access and use until set up on W7)

what do you think???

Being a lazy **** I just gave my system a good clean then did the upgrade.

No problems, everything works & the PC seems a bit sharper than with Vista 64 :)

I'd go for a clean install after a backup.

If you do end up needing to fiddle with boot records, have a look at EasyBCD (Link). Nicer for those who dont want to mess around with the command line :)
