Aagggh........please bear with me as i need help.
So i got our vive on friday, hooked it up to the rig in my sig and it was fine all weekend.
Last night (tuesday) i was starting it up ready for some guests to demo it to and every bit of content kept juddering, couldn't understand it.
Multiple reboots and unplugging/replugging the vive kit and pc.
Re-installed latest crimson drivers (R9 nano).
Eventually got stuff to a point where it worked, but it was constantly displaying the "application is running too slowly" error on the pc screen. and would judder whilst content is loading but within game it was fine.
WTH?
Since install the pc has been connected to a TV via HDMI and the Vive link box to the pc via DP. but last night with the link box connected it seemed to prioritise the DP connection and used the HDMI source (TV) as a 2nd screen so it extended my desktop and i couldn't get to any of the icons on it (as they're on the main/hidden screen). Pulling the DP cable out then flashed the TV screen and it reverted back to the desktop screen i expected to see.
Took the whole setup to work today so re-did room setup (much better at work btw) and i'm using a 24" monitor with DVI and HDMI, but got the same issues as above.
Contacted Vive chat and they said vive doesn't fully support DP yet, so use the HDMI and maybe get a DP>DVI cable.
So i tried that and i get a flicker of the w10 lock, when using the DP-DVI cable then it goes black.
So, i'm typing this with the HDMI cable in and no vive connected.
Online resources suggest bios upgrade on the R9 nano, but i don't really know how to do it (certainly not as easy as a mobo bios update). Not sure it would work anyway but worth a shot?

So, in utter frustration i've just ordered a GTX 1070 itx from OCUK. This has 1 x HDMI, 1x DP and 2x DVI, which is a better option than the Nano's 1x HDMI and 3x DP.
I'll be buying a Rift when they go on sale and by the gods i hope its not as troublesome.
For our business needs we'll be creating content more for rift anyway.

Can anyone please advice on my issues? The Nano is a Sapphire one but their support in-roads suck.

I was supposed to present the VR tech to the CEO today to win support (budget) for developing with it....... :(:(:(

Very sad day for me....
All advice appreciated.

Thanks guys,
good to hear that your 1070 works with DP connection to link box.
My nano did......for 3 days. But i reckon thinking back i've had issues for a while where it just wouldn't simply an image on screen. i think there was some handshaking issue on the hdmi port as well.
Glad its being RMA'd (one week left on warranty), phew! :)

Ok, so I packed th Vive away at work, and literally the minute I closed the box DPD delivered the gtx1070.
So, now I'm home everything is connected. HDMI to TV, DP to link box.
It works but I'm still getting the "application is running slowly" garbage.

Right now, as before it's not stopping me use th vive, but I want it running perfect for when I finally demo it to our CEO on Tuesday.

Any ideas?

My guess is, you really need to run the Vive on the HDMI connector, and your monitor on DP / DVI. Not sure if VSync impact on the Vive at all, maybe look at how vsync should be setup with Vive.
Yeah, well Vive support said that they don't fully support DP just yet. Problem is my PC is connected to my onkyo AVR so needs to be on hdmi.
I might test the Vive on hdmi just to see if that damned annoying message about application running too slowly disappears.

Pre-ordered the rift.
