I have just got of the phone from Vodafone and I am fuming. They called me out of the blue, said I was a very highly valued customer, always paid my bills on time but noticed I go over my allocated minutes each month and would like to make me a very special offer. They said I could have 600 anytime minutes and unlimited texts a month for a very special price of £25. They would also give me a free phone, a nokia n78.

I thought this was to good to be true and after TEN minutes talking on the phone to this guy I found out it was. It only clicked with me when he asked whether I was happy to take out this other line. I told the guy to hold his horses, why would I want two contracts with Vodafone , which is what he was offering, he was very clever with his words and from the begininning of the conversation it sounded like this was part of my current contract and they would be giving me this fabulous offer on my current contract. Had I not of been on the ball I would have had another phone line with vodafone, surely there must be some sort of mis-selling going on here.

My Mother-in-law got stung by Vodafone on something similar, an agent calling her up and before you know it she is given some sim cards and charged an extra load of money a month so she can speak to a few numbers for free.

Still fuming now and once my contract is up I will not be with them.

Could I cause a stink with anyone and try and get my contract voided so I canleave them ASAP? As you may be able to tell I am really miffed with Vodafone.

If you took out your contract online you may not have actually /signed/ anything. This is how I got my contract voided with them after they decided to charge me almost double a month than what was agreed.(and then threaten to take me to court when I wouldn't pay them) I too was a long time user of their service.

I would have initially signed a contract but probably verbally over the phone when I got my phone upgrade, wonder where I stand.

Was thinking of complaining to Ofcom, surely they must have got many people like this, I wonder how many people are as fed up as I am with them at the moment

Are you sure it was actually Vodafone that called you? Most of the horror stories are 3rd party's claiming to be the service providers.

I doubt you will get out of your current contract just because they offered you another line.

As said you will most likely find it was not Vodaphone and a scammer.

Call Voda and complian like mad, or even better send an email/write a letter.

At the very least you will make them aware of it and may score some credit.

I will have to echo what has already been said - I am 99% sure you have not been contacted by Vodafone.
This sounds like a reseller.
Vodafone wouldn't just ring up and offer deals like this - especially the minutes/texts you were talking about.

As for the issue on contracts.
As someone else has said, just because you haven't signed something doesn't make the contract void.
You have 14 days to change your mind (I think all telco's offer this now).
If you took a phone out over the phone and then six months later decided you wanted out you would not be able to use a "I didn't sign anything" excuse.

if they change the terms of the contract without you agreeing to them then that is breach of contract if you did not agree to the new terms. That is what voda did to me. as if it's OK for them to do what they like, but when I stop paying them they didn't like it. So no way will I ever use voda a gain, which means O2 is the only provider that can provide a service in the places i regulary visit.
