Last Friday was my 'Upgrade' day with Vodafone being 70 day's before the end of my 18 month Omnia contract with them!..

I've upgraded to a BlackBerry Bold2 9700 on a 600/Unlimited/BIS contract (although over 24 months :( )...

My contract got upgraded almost immediately, and I'm now on the new tariff!.. albeit not the BIS bit as I'm still running my Omnia!.

I know there's a bit of a back-log due to the weather, but I've not received any 'Dispatch' email.

I've not even had a reply to my query email I sent on Monday asking what's happening!..

Has anyone ordered a new phone recently and in the same boat??.. what's the usual order-dispatch time from Vodafone??..

I tried phoning yesterday only to be told that as I did the upgrade 'On-line' it was a different department and they were only accepting email queries! (which I've already done and got no reply!), their phones were apparently 'Switched Off'

Getting a little dis heartened now!.. I want my BlackBerry!!!..

Last time I tried to upgrade with Vodafone they repeatedly managed to cancel my order for reasons seemingly unknown, was the straw that broke the camels back for me with vodafone and I gave up on them - so I can't tell you how to resolve it. Sounds quite similar though, no emails, no communication, no phone turns up and when you eventually get hold of someone to complain they said 'umm, that order's been cancelled for some reason'

Could be the adverse weather causing delivery issues or they probably havent got any in stock...i know you have rung them but id ring them again and tell them firmly and politely that you want to know where your phone is...dont let them fob you off..if they cant give you a reason etc then if i was you id cancel the order asap.

Personally i would have had a look around at other networks before upgrading again with Voda...im sure you would have got a much better deal than what you upgraded to.

Hi,

I would recommend contacting the advisors on the Vodafone eforum. I dealt with them for my upgrade to a BB 9700 too :)

They contacted me via phone/email and were really helpful. Post a message on the forum, somebody will then contact you, you then give them some security details and hopefully you'll get an accurate update on the delivery status.

Good luck.

Didn't want to mess around with PUK or PAK codes, as I'd want to keep my number!... but I did look at O2, Orange etc.. and couldn't find anything near what I got most were £40+ per month for a free phone and very limited options on Tariff!..

Plus Voda have a history with the BlackBerry that I thought 'should' stand it in good stead!!.. and I've not (until now) had any problems with them!.

Giving em another call now!!.. but I'm on hold (and have been for about 10 mins!)

Cheers Dood!.. :)

Hopefully got it sorted now!. the guy I spoke to was very helpful!..

At first there was no sign of the 'Phone' order, only the Tariff! which to say the least confused the hell out of me (and him) as the Tariff has BIS on it and my current phone (shown on the system) is a WinMo Phone (omnia) which can't use BIS!..

So he checked a little deeper and found it!.. apparently it was dispatched yesterday and is currently on a 'Parcel Farce' van to be delivered (snow dependant) today or tomorrow!.. :)

I double checked with him on exactly what I've got (phone and Tariff) just to be sure and he read out: 600mins, Unlimited Text, Voda Mobile Internet + BIS over 18 Months all for £35... I didn't want to tell him it was 24 months when I signed up!... but thats what his Computer said.. and now its saved on a recording for when I want to pull em up on charges etc.. :D

I'll keep ya posted once I get it as I may need help with the BB.. and you seem to be the 'OcUK Resident BB Expert' (and I don't mean Big Brother!!)

Cheers

Sim :)

Glad to hear that its been sorted mate...and yes any questions about BB's go ahead and ask although if u click on the link in my sig you will find a myriad of info on crackberry.

Two Quick Questions I do have are about the SD Cards for the 9700..

Does it come with any form of MicroSD card (even a 1 or 2Gb one)?,
Whats the Biggest Card it can take (and does it support MicroSD-HC)??,

I found somewhere that does (real)Sandisk 8Gb microSD-HC cards for £12 incl P&P :)

Cheers again

It should come with a 2gb card...mine did although mine was bought sim free so dont know what Voda will ship in theirs.

At the moment i think it only supports 16gb cards although ive heard that 32gb is supported as well but i havent seen any 32gb cards.

At the moment i have a sandisk 8gb card that im using and it works perfectly well. £12 is a good price...think i paid about £20 for mine but that was a few yrs ago now.

I phoned again Yesterday and wouldn't take any 'Guff', at first the guy said we've only got record of a Tarrif upgrade and no Phone!, I kept my cool and told him "Why would I upgrade to a Tariff that had BIS when I've got a Winmo Phone!?!?", he then checked a little deeper and found it!, it'd been dispatched and was on the way!!.

I passed the 'Parcle Farce' van on the way home, and thought I'd have to go to Bristol to pick it up, but it was waiting for me at my local Post Office (2 min walk).. so all well and Good!.. Got the Phone, it works and I'm well happy!!..

On a side note I've finally received the 'Dispatch' email today at 12:45!.. not bad, only 24 hours late!! :D

Playing with it now!!! :)
