had a txt today saying from the 4th jan the prices are changing because of the vat increase, my question is i had my phone nearly 12 months ago so shouldnt i only pay the price it was to start or is the prices increase just.

No, VAT increase takes effect on 4th Jan, every single VAT registered business is legally obliged to charge 20% VAT from then on.
