Voice editing software? need it for a video.

ANyone know of any good voice editing software? im about to make a flash animation but i need a voice editing program ( i hate my own voice )
Free would be best.

Iv tried a few things but there no good. Or even a program where you type things in and they come out in different voices. Like microsoft sam :) but not as good ofcourse.
 
does audacity change the voice via recording at same time or do i have to make a clip and import it in?
 
Audacity is an editing program but will not generate voices.
There was a program out years ago called $hittalker. It was meant to play pranks on the telephone when those pesky sales folk called your home phone . It had sentences and words you could play back over the speakers .It was very good ,you just clicked the word etc in the box on the screen to play it back . The good thing , you were able to change the voice to :gremlin , young girl ,woman ,old woman ,troll , boy, man ,old man,giant ,alien .etc ,and they sounded very realistic .On the right hand side of the screen was 2 boxes ,this is where you typed in your own massages in the form of text's.
Great fun program and you could easily capture the sound to put into your animation .
I have it somewhere on disk , haven't used it for 5 or 6 years ,dont know if you will be able to get now though but it may have been the program to try.
 
Yes ,the listing can be found ,but the actual program not .Just done a clicky on the $hittaker link and a 404 with not found on the server.
Like I say , this is an old program ,doubt you'll get it now .
