has anyone configured voip for use with their homes?

if so:

is it hard to configure / maintain?

Who do you use to route your VOIP calls and how much does it cost you?

Are you still using PSTN as well?

I use my Nokia N80 internet edition with wifi for VOIP as a second line for a business.

Only works at home though which is fine.

Once it's setup it's no trouble, only benifit of PTSN is you get 60mins for 5p or whatever offer is being run.

VOIP is good for internation calls

can't fault it so far

I use

http://www.aql.co.uk/

there's a full pdf price list for local international calls but line rental is free

Very easy I use the Thomson Speedtouch 780WL (£40 so called used at auction) Plug a bogstandard telephone in .
I use www.internetcalls.com I was given an ordinary telephone number 0116 etc which rings anywhere in the world that I happen to have my notebook plugged into the web. I get 5 hours per week of free calls to most mainline countries inc the Uk for this I pay £8 plus for 4 months The only calls that I use the £8 up on are 0845 0870 etc and mobiles any money remaining at the end of the 4 months I just use up by paying for my calls and then get another 4 months. Excellent quality

Hello,

I use a Linksys Pap2 unlocked VOIP box from ebay. This connects to my Dect BT phone.

I have virgin media cable broadband, so I don't need a BT phone line and have recently cancelled with BT

It's just over 1p per minute for landlines any time and just over 9p per minute for mobiles.

The money I would have paid BT is now going straight on calls.

I have a geographic telephone number. It has Caller ID. There was a good configuration guide online and it's has been working ever since.

The website is great to use and I've found out you can change your number. I chose a really catchy one from Ballycastle, Co, Antrim, but the gf wanted a Swindon based one.

If you have cable BB without a telephone line, I highly recommend it.
