So, just out of curiocity, when doing the flash, how can you tell if it has the 290x core or not? Because surely the ones which arnt the 290x cores that get the speed and voltage increase will also show some improvement in benching no? Or am i missing something.
GPUZ will show 2816 shaders and 176 TMU's is the flash works. If it fails the count will be 2560 shaders / 160 TMU's (stock 290 non-X). Performance will also jump by 3-7% at same clock speeds dependent on game/application.

Here's my XFX 290:-

Hmm guess I'll know in a few hours :p
Good luck. Don't be too disappointed if they fail to flash because the actual gains are quite small after unlocking the shaders. A stock 290 offers MASSIVE performance for price. Think of the 290 as an Elephant fart, and the 290X as an Elephant and a Mouse farting in unison. Without paying very close attention you'd barely notice the difference, and for tri-fire the differences will be smaller still.

The fact you are providing a warranty has me sold, just like your i7 Extreme bundle (which is working out well btw)

I must say it is nice to see OcUK supplying these types of specialist parts again.

If you could please ship mine before answering the incoming phone call from AMD :D

There will always be disappointment! But I'll get over it lol, I'm more worried my PC might take off before I even get a chance to put them through their paces :p

Hi there

Just doing some more now.

Seems they do not all unlock, so we shall be creating a new product, which will just feature voltage unlock.

Also the price on this might have to go up today, so if your thinking about one buy now, before I re-vise the price upwards as were finding quite a few which refuse to unlock the additional shaders. :(

Ahh the fear sale!

YES!

I just found 5 more which unlock, shall book them onto the stock after lunch, so please do re-order as I shall definitely be increasing the price as its not as straight cut as they all unlock, only some do.....
So I see they are back in stock. I have ordered when it was out of stock and payment has already been made (with confirmation from paypal)...but order status is stucked in "Security validation"...what does that mean?

Edited: Nevermind, the status has now change to in warehouse queue.

Knowing i'd regret it as soon as non ref boards come out has killed the tempation for me, well that and the lack of game vouchers being sent with it.

I managed to talk myself out of it, thinking about custom coolers and the possibility that manufacturers might be able to use better components (i.e. memory) when they get a bit more freedom.

However I think in fairness I was just trying to talk myself out of spending £720 on these on top of the £400 worth of stuff already in my basket!

These do like nice though and the price didn't go up as much as I was expecting which is good (I expected them to be closer to £400 given the price of actual 290Xs).

Must be strong...
