guys

just got a jetta sport 2.0tdi, amazing good choice, i have noticed that there are a few places offering chip/box upgrading to 170ish bhp for £100 to £350 , anybody done this does how do you feel the difference has made and what method did you choose.

thanks in advance

jase

wouldnt touch a box , my ibiza has the 143 ps cr 2 ltr engine in too , i had a revo dealer do mine and it took it to 208 bhp with supporting mods , apperently cant be detected unless they sit it on diagnostics and look at boost and timings , but i got a switch for putting it back to stock for servicing

Don't "chip" it.

There's been countless threads here previously. The short story is that a "chip" can't read all the sensors data, so just goes ZOMG GIVE IT FUELZ AND BOOSTZ.

A remap on the other hand is fine :).

I can certainly recommend Dynachip. He (Mike) will come to you and will charge £225 for a remap. He did my car on Thursday and has made a massive improvement.
I don't know what the bhp or torque figures are, I'm not bothered by those, but the Disco is now so much more civilised and I'm changing gear so much less.

He drives a Golf 2.0tdi 140 himself so I would imagine his map for that engine will be pretty much spot on ;)

Don't know about the Shark but Bluefin is a well respected device. It doesn't give huge increases but does smooth out flat spots very well from what I've read.

Couple years ago but I had my HDi remapped. Ok, it got 31 bhp more but was pouring smoke out. Lasted 48 hours and had it put back to stock.. I have also heard of dealers uploading updated software up to the cpu when servicing cars which erases the remap.

Tried a Tunit box from Bromleys with its adjusted power from 1-9 and they can also live map it on the road. Clean exhaust and a lot more beans.. Good thing about it if you change cars just get a new loom for the box with the correct connectors and plug it in..

I use to remove mine when it went in for service.

That's not typical of a decent map, just typical of a rubbish map.
I have less smoke now after the remap.

I've got Bluefin on my FR, put it on a few weeks after I bought it and touch wood have had no problems in a couple years of running it. Had it dynod at 200BHP with it on too! :)

It made it start to pull earlier and last longer before you ran out of power, I've driven it with it off and in comparison, to me it feels awful!

Shark are well respected on the Briskoda forums, definitely worth calling Ben and speaking to him.
