VW Golf 1.6 -- £3100 Insurance

I don't think anyone has taken issue with your actual circumstances - just your notion that driving into clearly sighted obstructions would somehow not be your fault. It's a silly argument because you made a silly comment.

Are you retarded? An extremely narrow lane yet you were doing 20mph to pass a parked car?
You said that the car was parked on your side of the road, lets be honest now, if its an extremely narrow lane, does it make a difference what side of the road that it is on? No.

AA Driving school will be doing New Years offers, I suggest you look them up.

It was a residential road about 2.5 car widths. Thus a car with a door open would be occupying over half of the road. 20mph is fine to pass a car in this situation which is parked with no open door and no visible indication passengers are about to exit, especially when we can see each other from over 100 metres away.

Would it be retarded to drive into an open door, yes.
Would it also be retarded to open the car door to get out as another car is approaching and the continue to just sit there, also yes.
So whilst, for the sake of argument, we agree the fault of the accident lies with the person who drove into the open door, it is still ridiculous behaviour from the passenger who could have taken steps to prevent the accident from occurring.

Fair?

it might make more sense why no one can possibly blame me for the accident. You do not open a car door when another car is actively passing, especially when any part of the foreign vehicle is level with any part of your car between the front and rear bumper, where at any speed a collision is unavoidable.

it would make some kind of sence if you were a half decent driver and learned to expect the un-expected, and from what you write, at that time of night, an iffy parked car, with occupants, hmm whats the chance of the door opening?

The accident would never have occurred had he not been driving and thus 'fronting.'

The accident would not have occured if you'd used a bit of thought and allowed a bit of room as you passed the badly parked car,or, made a point of making sure they were aware that you were there.

Life is unfair. Deal with it.

My first insurance at 25 was £1110 for 10 months on a 1.6 Focus 53...

Adding my dad made my insurance increase even though he has been driving for longer than I've been alive. Probably because he's a van driver and has company van to drive around in.

Ive made a post about insurance not long ago, @OP how much are you
going to be using the car? more or less than the policy holder?

If Less, just for social and domestic, go as a named driver under your parents for 1 year, also known as the learning year, this can cut the costs of your insurance by a lot. which wont get you a NCB but will been seen by insurers that youve had no accidents

I wanted my own car, but why? going to and from the shops and seeing the missus every odd weekend, this was gonna cost me 2k+ for small 1.2 clio, 2.6k+ for a 1.4hdi peugeot.

So i took into consideration how much millage i need, its a lot less than the main driver, so i went under my dad, on a 320i SE BMW and got it for £600 for the whole year! thats with 3k mileage for my own social and domestic use.

does your dad use the car at all? regardless of low mileage policies, if you use the car the most it should be under your name :)
