My step brother wants the Sony Ericsson W550i on pay as you go.

Any ideas where's cheapest to get it?

He has an orange PAYG sim card so an orange phone would be easiest.

thanks

O2 student shop, £130.

Your brother can either port his number to the O2 PAYG SIM (they have some good deals there) or you can find some way to unlock the SIM-lock on the handset. This can be done through O2 themselves (usually for a charge), or otherwise (not hard to find).

Rather than start a new thread I thought this would be a suitable place to discuss this phone. Does anyone have one? Would you like to share your views? Do you have any tips and tricks that might be handy? Also, can anyone recommend a suitable case?

Cheers.

I have the W550i on O2 and I think it's a sweet phone, IMO it has a nice screen, the sound is good. It took a few days to get used to opening it but once it had been opened and closed a few times it got easier, and is now smooth and a nut.

The only downside is using the keys whilst holding it in one hand, as it can be a bit tricky (i upgraded from a nokia 6230) but i'm getting used to it.

Any other Q's then just ask.

Have you come across any decent cases?

How do you find O2 in general? I was with them years ago and they were fine but recently I've heard a few gripes.

Mine is due to arrive in the next hour or so and as I didn't get anything from Santa, I'm quite excited :)

Tbh i havn't really looked for them, out of the two that come with the phone the orange is the better of the two, i find the white one to be too smooth but if you find of any replacement covers i'd be interested as the orange one is fading a little on the edges.

As for O2 i find them to be good, not had any problems with the service....so far and i've been with them a year i pay £15 p/m and get 100 anytime any network mins and 500 txts. so no problems here.

Sorry, I should have been a bit clearer. I was on about carry cases as opposed to the clip-on covers :)

However, if I do come across any I'll post here.

Think i might sell my 6630 and pick one of these up could do with something smaller. Does the phone have expandable memory and a 3.5mm headphone jack?

no expandable memory, only built in 256mb ( Which is enough really)

Doesnt come witha 3.5mm headphone jack, but you can buy a little adaptor thing from some auction site :)

sounds good ive only got a 256mb in the 6630 anyway so it would be fine and ive survived with the pop port which must be the single worst connecter in the world so looks like id quite like the phone :D

The phone comes with a wire that has a 3.5mm jack on it so you can plug any headphones in (it's part of the headphones they supply with the phone).
