Hi,

Contract with 02 ends on 9th January which was the Online 50 @ £19 a month. I am looking to get a new contract worth about £25 a month with 02 so basically the online 25 is for me.
I've spent a fair while looking up phones on the net based on what 02 list and I have narrowed down my phone choice to either the SE K800i or the SE W950i. I am upgrading from a W800i.

The K800i has a camera which the W950i does not but I normally shoot videos and I know the K800i still records at the crappy res that my W800i does so that puts me right off. I am impressed with the N93's camera but the phones a brick and it will cost me ~£230 for the handset and i'm not prepared to pay that much for a phone and pay the monthly charge.

The big selling point to me with the W950i is the fact its basically a MP3 player phone which is what I love about my W800i, however the lack of any type of camera is a big turnoff. I like the fact these are quite rare compared to a K800i which everyone seems to have these days. If I get the W950i I would probobly not get the IPod I planned to get so that would save me money in that respect.

One more thing that puts me off about the K800i is the way in which it connects up to the computer via USB and limits what the phone can do.

The ultimate phone for me would be the N95 but its not out till March and they will probobly want £400 from me for the pleasure of using it so thats a big no no.

I don't think I have overlooked any phones that 02 offer on Pay monthly other than the N73 but I prefer SE over Nokia.

So basically what would you guys pick if you had the choice?

K800i = Free @ 25/month
W950i =£59.99 @ 25/month

sounds like you really want the W950i.

What you said -

You want the walkman
You want to save money on an ipod
You like the fact that its more rare
You don't like the Video feature in the K800i
You don't like the fact everyone has one (True ! I saw a 14 year old using one yesterday)
You don't like the connection in the k800i

So the only thing missing is the camera, i bet if they stick on a w800i camera in the w950i you'll buy it in an heartbeat.

So if i were you I would get the w950i, its not like you take pictures all the time. Can always use a digital camera for that.

I had the k800i and have just yesterday got the w950i. Very pleased with it so far, the touch screen takes a bit of getting used to. The only thing in my view the k800i wins on is the camera but i never used it anyway. but i guess its down to each individual. Out of the two i would get the w950i .

Ok cheers for the replies, looks like I am getting the W950i. Seeing as my contract expires on the 9th does it mean I have to wait to the 9th to upgrade or can I do it now? Also seeing as this is my first ever contract I'm gonna ask a very syupid question :p

What happens to my W800i after the contract expires? Can I just stick a 02 PAYG SIM in it?

With vodahone you can upgrade 2 months prior to the contract end date, other network might be the same but i doubt a week ahead would make much difference to them.

The w800i will still work, just put a PAYG sim in it.

lol, that was a rather entertaining conversation with 02. They wanted to charge me £240 for the handset as I was 'upgrading my handset'. I told them where to go and said whats stopping me from canceling my contract and getting out a new one and the guy said nothing. He put me through to retentions and they said they don't make enough money on me to warrant giving me the handset and £60 so I canceled my contract and will be getting a new contract and W950i shortly :D

Pretty stupid really as who would pay £240 for the handset when you can get it for £60 on a new contract?

Some people might pay the extra just to keep their existing number.

Quick Question beofre I hit the order button.
Take a look at this image:

Why is it that for £25 a month ( bottom tarrif) you get more minutes and texts than if you were to get the tarrif costing £50 a month?

Includes each month
Inclusive minutes, any UK network 1000
Free UK Text Messages 500
Inclusive UK Browse & Download 1.0MB
Add my 4mb of net data for £5 and it comes to £30 a month for all that :D

I think the question here would be why would they have to pay £240 for it...but thats another can of beans....

I think the w850i is right up your street, the following disappointed me about the w950i : -

SLOW
When using predictive text, sometimes need to use roller which is a pain.
They changed the roller so the back button is totally seperate
I sometimes hit the wrong button as the buttons are small and not seperated
Theres no green and red buttons!

The w850i, I believe would be better because,

you could probably upgrade to it for free
you can slam a 4gb mem stick into it if you wanted
has a camera
runs faster
is smaller
helluvalot easier to navigate and text with.

theres my 52pence :)
