I have really been enjoying walking of late and planning on putting some decent miles in in 2019 but I need some good socks to go with my walking shoes. Wasnt sure if most expensive = best or whether you are just paying for the badge? For reference Im aiming for 10-20 miles thanks.

Smartwool. A wide range of cushioning levels and fits to suit different activities.

have had 2 pairs of thorlo mountaineering socks for 20 years - used with leather walking / plastic mountaineetring / ski boots,
often in double layer with their ultra light inner sock

Yep, Smartwool. I wouldn't buy anything else nowadays.

Socks are a very personal thing IMO. A good starting point are Wigwam, Smartwool and Icebreaker, but there are lots of other brands available too.

I’ve always avoided Bridgedale as they always have me blisters/rubbed.
