Am bored of my Alfa 156 1.8 TS (X Reg 60k miles).

Its a great car, handles well - 144bhp and has a lovely interior but I just want a change for change sake I think.

Having browsed a certain auction site and had a look at what dealers are selling them for I dont think i'll get much more than £1500 for it. Someone is gonna get a good car for that money !

Thing is I don't know what I would get next.. hmm.

I do like Honda's, Integra / Civics etc but I wont have any more than £2k to spend on the replacement car which doesn't give me much option.

Am open to a hatchback or coupe but want something quite fun to drive and maybe have a delve at tuning at some point too.

Cany anyone recommend anything ? Reliability is important.

If i had the cash id have it. Dont know why but alfas do it for me  ive not even passed my test yet and ive been looking at them as a 1st car!

I love the Alfa Brera I think that tthing is sweet. You could get one for that dosh..

Why not go for a Civic? If you get one on finance you can easilly pay off most of it with that 2k, if not then you can get something like a Clio 182.

A Brera for £2k ? I dont think so !

I dont want to take out any more finance really.

I think Alfas are Marmite really. a lot have problems with them but I have had mine for 2 and a half years and I have had no problems at all other than replacing Tyres/Brakes/Battery. I got the Cambelt done in advance just to be safe.

Dont ever become a financial advisor will you!

Is insurance a concern? if not, then look at a MR2,200SX,Mondeo ST dependd how much practicality you need tbh.

Well I do have 6pts but im 29 so shouldnt be too bad. I have one child but as long as I can get a booster seat in it then that should be fine..

I'd go for a 4th Gen Prelude too. Fun to drive, rapid, reliable. Think you may struggle with a booster seat though, but I've never tried in my 5th gen.

Fiat coupe 16v turbo or even the 20v turbo (although any 20v turbo for 2k is likely to be a dog - you could get lucky). Check service history closely. fccuk.org for more info.

If you can stretch to a 20v turbo you'll have the best performance for your price bracket for sure. if you can get a well cared for 200SX for the same money you'll be in the same area but imo an aging jap design with horrible interior.

Eh? Where can you get a Brera for £2k?

Has it had it's 60k service? Spark plugs are due (not cheap in the TS).

£2k isn't going to go very far. I'd stick with the 156 and save a little more, you can get so much more for £3k.

Edit: And a brera for £2k? What are you smoking? Or do you mean a toy one, I notice you don't have your licence yet. :D

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

To answer your question - no it hasnt had the 60k service yet and yeah Sparkies are due soon. How much you reckon they will be ?
