I don't think it is a bad idea.

People choosing to sell their homes through Asda will pay lower than average estate agency fees and receive a free Home Information Pack (HIP).

The packs will contain a property survey as well as proof of ownership and local authority search results. Some estimates have put the cost of preparing an HIP at between £600 and £1,000.

Sounds good for sellers. Also, it's not as though the agency is going to go out of business, eh? :p


I remember reading something a while ago saying that Tesco bosses ultimately want to generate as much turnover in non-food related products than they do in food. This is just one of the numerous ways they could achieve that.

I think the supermarkets are prepared to move into any market in which they see themselves making a profit. They are an already established name and they have the financial backing they need.
