Want to cook, can't cook

Re: garlic bread

Dead simple, and the cheat way but also nice, this is what i do.

BUY the baguette, get 2 small ones rather than one large. M&S sells the nice size one and fresh daily.
Get some butter, fresh garlic and parsley or chive.

Peel and crush a few goves of garlic into a bowl
Chop up some parsley
Put it into the bowl with the garlic
Add in some butter and mix it up
Slice the baguette up anyway you like, i like it across but not all the way in.
Spread the garlic butter on
Into the oven at medium heat for about 10 minutes max, I woud check it after 5 to see, if its brown then it's done.

When it comes out you will have warm, fresh garlic bread.

Still in bed :p. Just gonna go make a salad. Nah just gonna go make me tea and toast :D

hmmmm salad sounds nice. I want her to be impressed. I think if I cooked an egg. She would be impressed.

Garlic bread ( will buy it already done :D)

Somewhere I have a guide that my missus done for me on how todo cheese on toast WITH pictures and it was laminated. As I didn't use enough cheese and it looked rank

But store bought garlic bread isn't cooking, that's warming up in the oven. Basically saying i cooked a ready meal. Plus if you make it, you can decide how much garlic to use.

And as for the cheese on toast look rank, just make sure the bread is covered totally with cheese, so no exposed bread to the grill. Otherwise the bread will be burnt before the cheese is done as bread is dry and catches flame faster...use your common sense :p

Same goes with the garlic bread, where you slice it, spread it with the butter, else you are just eating dried toast.

Yeah but. This is my first attempt. I gotta take it a bit easy lol

My mum thinks steak is a bit too adventurous. Also my dad is not too keen on me cooking ROFL. First thing he said was. Oh great house on fire

You can't go wrong when you use medium heat and check it after 5min.

It only goes bad if you burn it, plus the bread is cooked already and you can eat the garlic raw so you aren't going to die lol

I can't time things when cooking, which means I can't cook. The veg are always ready before the meat, (unintended erectile dysfunction innuendo, I know) and other things such as pasta, rice, potatoes etc always get over cooked, I'm left literally screaming "FUUUUUUUUUUUUU-" in the kitchen while it all becomes a car crash.

You'll need the ten minute rest to recover from the shock of cooking it.

Thing is, if I cook a meal. I would be so happy. And she would be as well.

And I would be in total shock.

With cooking. I just kept putting it off and putting it off.

But I'm not stupid. I learnt how to rebuild engines and such. And have modded many cars myself. Ie installing a head and cams etc etc. I can do stuff in live. Just cooking has always really scared me. My fear is steak will look like it's been nukes from orbit and chips won't be cooked :(

Re steak

Get your hand out.
Put your left thumb and touch the tip of your index finger (so you now have a loop) and poke the fleshy part on the palm by the thumb with your other hand). See how soft it is? That's about the softness/texture of a steak when you ask for raw.

Touch your thumb to your middle finger, that's medium

Touch your thumb to your little finger, that's well done,

:( this is scary me now. So do I ask how she want her steak or do I just go for In between?

God the amount times we watch come dine with me as well. You would have thought something would have stuck in my head.

And thanks Raymond Lin. It's nice that your helping me out :D if it goes to plan. Will cook a meal and send it in the post ;)

Ow and the jelly. Thought of a cool idea. As she's Italian. Red White green jelly :D

Erm, I dunno...lol

Lemoncello and jelly, yes, but red wine has too low an alcohol content, if you put too much it wont set and if not enough it wont taste of wine. You can always try it and see, the problem is melt the jelly first with hot water you see, if you boil wine the alcohol boils at about 80c so all you end up with is red water. And cold wine won't dissolve the jelly.

Lemoncello is Italian, plus is clear-ish, goes well if you make lemon jelly. She won't know it's full of alcohol lol

Anybody can cook (not microwave and other stuff like that) it's easy really.
You just have to have a bit of patience. Make sure you have all the ingredients to hand and the tools for the job ;) Then follow the recipe! Simples.

I remember the first time I did scrambled egg... I was so proud of myself.
