want to play half life 2 again?

was wanting to play half life 2 again, but was wondering, are there any mods that make the graphics look better? as in better quality textures etc? or is best to play it as it is?
 
bah, i not got dx10 gfx card.

hopefully someone can give us an idea if the game can be modded to look better. would be well worth playing again on the 32incher lcd tv this time.
 
 
ahhh excellent thanks for those links. shoudl make the game great fun to play.

do i need both the high rez texture pack and the cinematic mod? or will just the texture pack do?

yes ive got a skin pack makes hings look smoother cant remember which but it does make that hotttie look even better :p
 
 
I gave this a shot the other day- graphics look absolutely awesome, and the subtle music is really moody.

I think it changes the game quite a bit though, I've not decided yet if I'm to finish HL2 (:p ) as standard or CM4.0. I found the Combine and Alyx die a lot easier, probably Gordon too- although I didn't get far enough 'cos Alyx kept on dying!
 
I would n't mind trying this but everytime I download it I get a corrupt file. Even tried using GetRight to download but I end up with a file which is 3g called X6! Tried adding .rar to the extension name but it fails the crc check half way through decompressing. :confused:
 
I would recommend FakeFactory if you're playing through again, I download v3.0 some time ago when I felt like playing again although I never get very far into it.

I will probably download v4.0 if there's a later version out, the download is a pain as it's quite large but it's worth it in my opinion. (You just have to set it downloaded a day or so in advance if you're planning on playing through again :))

What are you using to download it with as I beleive IE can't handle downloads over 2gig?
 
Really, I never knew that lol although I am using Firefox now and it just seemed to download fine. I didn't have any problems, sorry.
 
is there a way i can start downloading this mod and then stop when i need to shut down or use the interent and then continue at another point? i have tried this before with other files suing firefox download thing and it never manages to reconnect.
