Was my 6870 a bad decision?

So just for the sake of some predictions here, which would be the better buy? 6950 or 560? Given the estimated 560 tag of 200-220 and the current tag of the 6950, both taking overclocking/flashing into consideration.
You are opening a can of worms there mate, imo, unless nvidia want to destroy 570 sales then the 6950 flashed to 6970 will be the better buy IF they are at the same price point. My flashed 6950 got to 930mhz with stock 6970 volts, others have had over 1ghz with a slight increase in volts.

Don't forget that there will be a 1gb 6950 and 6970 coming to the party too, who knows what there price point will be. It's going to get very confusing and over saturated with too many cards imo.

Perhaps, but the 6950 is around £240 from what I've seen... there's no real reason for Nvidia to not have their 560's around that same performance if the SOC are going to be coming upwards of 230. The 570 is topping at nearer to 300 anyway, so that's a higher market segment.

At least, that's what it looks like. Honestly I'm having a very rough time deciding between:

6950
560
470

You might have a clearer picture tomorrow when benchmarks and prices are out, although gibbo said on another post that stock 560's are £200 and SOCs are £220+.
Found a 6950 for £207.54 with a quick search on google.

True, I wouldn't even be considering a card until I knew how good/bad it was.

As for the HD 6870 suely two of these crossfire is the way forward? http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/301?vs=305 beats a single GTX580 senseless and heck of a lot cheaper to boot.

Title says all. I made a post about this about 1-2 weeks ago but I'm still a bit down that i spent £199.99 on a card which in my opinion is rubbish for its pricetag..

For the same price i could have had a 5870 from XFX, or for an extra £30-40 i could have had a 6950 flashed to a 6970. Is my 6870 a bad move for the £199.99 i spent on it? And if so (because i've been looking at this) where could i sell it? I didnt know at first that the 6870 wasn't a high end card until they came out with the 69xx which made me find out that the 68xx are only mid-range cards out to replace the HD57xx series (which i've read online) :S, depression moment for the loss :/

Yes, there's no denying it is a bad decision. Should have bought a HD6950 flashed to HD6970 intead (assuming you bought it recently, if not, well being an early adopter can sometimes be unforunate)

To answer the OP's question, if the card runs all the game you want to play then just be happy with what you've got. Just get a 7000/600 series card in November/December and be done with it.

Yes, If anything, they should be leaving it there to fight off the 560, and price the 1Gig 69's under the 560 to stay in the game. If the lockdown happens then amd are in for a bad time this round.

It was the oposite for me. I had a buyer waiting for my 5870 for £140 fitted, then got my 6950 for £217, £6 for some heatsinks(on the AC 5870 extreme cooler I took off the 5870) and put it on the flashed 6950. So it only cost me £83 for this years upgrade that's cool and very quiet and saved me about £95 for the 570 I nearly bought and the 6950 is £20+ dearer now.
