Does keeping a watch with a Luminous face in the dark for a while damage the effectivness of it, just asking because i have a Seamaster that id had stored in its box for about a year and now im using it again it doesnt hold its Luminous charge where as my Oris lasts for a while.

Think Omega use superluminova which, when charged by a light source, will glow most of the night, it dont think it looses its luminosity over time.

Some watches use tritium and it does not need charged but after about 12years it fades away and no longer lumes.

Maybe your Oris just has more lume on the hands? Try charging the omega with a strong light for a couple of mins.

Rotty I'm sure would know.

I can not see how it would be able to lose its recharging ability, more likely you need to leave it in some direct sunlight for a day. Sunlight is better as will be full of more intensive radiation than a light bulb.

I believe tritium is now only used in certain professional watches due to its radioactive properties.

The Luminova does become less effective over time, if it bothers you that much you can get it "relumed" by a specialist however I have no idea of the cost.

doesnt really bother me m8 was just wondering if they do lose there charge over the years as it is about 10 years old, was just wondering if i could have damaged it by leaving it in the dark for so long

I would have thought the opposite to be honest, i.e constantly charging it would reduce its life time but I don't know for sure.
