Hi,

The heat generated by my pc is relatively high, and I fancy overclocking in due course, therefore temperature are likely to get even higher. Also I seem to have accumulated over 9 fans in my pc which all make considerable amounts of noise which annoys me! Therefore I believe that a water cooling solution would come in handy.

Therefore I am wondering what I would need to buy and how much it would all cost; here's my spec that all needs water cooling.

Coolermaster RC-1000
Striker II Extreme
QX9650
2 x 8800 GTX OC2

(I would prefer an all inside system, whereby the radiator is in the pc rather than an external one.) I have 3 free 5.25" drive bays.

thanks,

Here's a good post:

I'm looking at water-cooling. I've read the sticky, looked through the gallery and identified where I can put a radiator in my case. I'm thinking of getting:

blah block
blah gpu blocks
blah radiator
blah pump
blah fans
blah tubing

what do you all think?

We like these ones. It shows the poster has done some work, put in a little effort. Researched what they want to do and decided what they can do.

Just wanted you to know why you may not have had a rush of responses.

lol

harsh but true...

for the record I'd say get..

EK Supreme cpu block
2 EK 8800GTX full cover blocks
DDC 12V pump with an aftermarket top such as xspc or EK
7/16 masterkleer tubing (probably about 8ft to account for **** ups)
a bay res you like the look of or a tube res if you can find somewhere to put it inside
the biggest thermochill pa series rad you can find room for in your case and fans balanced for your noise/performance requirements.

There's plenty of places out there that sell this stuff so you can figure out the cost, I'd take a total guess at £300.

As for mounting the rad, as you'll be doing it you really need to suss it yourself, just remember rads are 12cm(ish) wide and multiples of 12cm long so a PA120.3 is 12cmx36cm just in fan space, its actually over that in actual footprint.

If you want it all inside (the proper way to watercool ;)) then be prepared to start cutting away at your case with a jigsaw or dremel.

You'll be much better off as mike says deciding on your kit, deciding you want to go for it and then post up pics of the inside of your case and you'll likely get good responses for modding tips.

What you don't need to ask and what is freely available info is what fans are best, what fluids are best, is there any difference with 1/2", 7/16 or 3/8" tubing, how do I leak test etc etc.

What fluids are best??
Tubes - what are tubes?
And leak testing - arhhhhhhhhh

lol. jokes.

Yeah, maybe this post was a tad lazy on my behalf. I'll do a bit of research now, and report back as soon as I have done.

cheers

I see where you are coming from, however when the sticky is about 100 pages long, you kind of get put off somewhat?? don't you? But you'll say if you wanna water cool - you've gotta read it! lol:D

Also, this is regarding stikies in general, they are often highly out of date, aren't they? Although the methods are the same most often, the products aren't, and this is where thay be a little weak you could say?

I'm not having a go at anyone before people jump to conclusions, these forums are v. helpful. I admit, I was lazy on this occurance - i should have product searched before hand - and yes, tackled the sticky! :D

thanks

If you read the sticky in the first place you would realise that bar maybe a couple of new blocks the information is up to date. There is always a difference is opinion in what is best, eg: I think full cover GPU blocks are a waste of time, and X CPU block is better than Y CPU block, hence references for you to make your own opinion.

The Sticky is lengthy for a reason, because there is a lot to cover. And believe me, I could EASILY have gone into a lot more detail.

No offence intended or taken. At the end the day, we are all here to help you with your hobby. :)

Yay! Someone who takes constructive criticism without rancour. I look forward to your next post and will attempt to answer any reasonable questions.

I do agree with regard to stickies though. Many are awful but weescott did a great job with the one on here. Now if only the gallery was a sticky...

dog > bone

;)

you've infected me! I've started telling people off for posting "stuff" in the gallery thread too much!
