Rooney is England's best player. Rooney is the best English goal scorer. Just who else is there that is better? Gerrard? Cole? Lampard?

Rooney gets so much stick but thats only because he is classed as being world class. If he played for any other team in the EPL, he would be praised as the next Shearer. Everyone loves to hate on UTD.

He needs to get fit pretty quick. He could lose his place in the team if he is not careful because of fitness problems. For his size he has an exceptional cardiovascular system but the years of smoking/drinking/injuries are showing on his frame.

In the 1st game of the season he was sporting man boobs for gods sake. Can you imagine Messi, Drogba, Ronaldo with man boobs!!!

This is all brilliant. I am almost certain this all came about immediately after his leg gash. No sources, no rationale, literally nothing at all that would make people think Rooney was on his way out of Old Trafford and yet the papers decided that the time was nigh.

Unfortunately you are wrong. This fuss all started after the 1s game where even utd fans said he was gash and not fit enough for the start of the season.

In what way? Rooney is a complete footballer, he will bleed for UTD. He has many of times in the previous seasons tracked back and cleared shots off the line. RVP might be a deadlier finisher in front of goal but he lacks the work ethic Rooney has.

You'd also never seen Rooney attempt a Pirlo when UTD are 2-1 down.

I couldn't agree more.

Rooney is a world class player - when he is 100% fit. Unfortunately I don't think he's looked 100% fit for some time.

He has the ability to rule a game, I think he has lost some of his passion but United signing RVP and bringing in somebody to compete with him and take his "number 1 player status" will get him back to his best. Him sitting on the sidelines watching RVP get all the praise will make him want to succeed.

When he is back, Rooney will be deadly this season.

Then he has parts of the season where he is unplayable.

He scored 27 league goals last season?

Just my opinion. I think RvP is a better CF or no. 10, I think you'll agree by the end of the season, RvP's consistency can't be understated imo, it's like he's worked out football and just shows up to complete another game. You almost know he's going to score every single game for the last 2 or so years, something which you can't say of anybody outside Messi and Ronaldo, and they play in a league which is basically a free for all for Real + Barca. You don't even know if Rooney is going to resemble a pro footballer at times

Not loads in it of course, but RvP is at the top of his game at the moment, best fitness of his career, ridiculous confidence etc. Rooney just isn't at that stage atm, not to say he won't be when he gets to RvP's age

I Don't think Rooney will be going anywhere, he is a fantastic player, who at times has carried Man Utd, but now RVP has come in, I think they could make a good partnership and take the pressure of rooney a bit

I do wish though, he would stay as a striker and stop bombing around the place like a healdess chicken trying to do everything on the field
He should stick to being a striker and leave the defending to the defenders.

Yes Rooney is a good player but tbh if he even mentioned a new contract I pray fergie gets rid of him asap. He don't deserve the wage he currently gets as it is.
