WBA champion David Haye to "fight" Audley Harrison

I hope there's an instantaneous double KO and they both get hurt :D

Seriously Haye is ****ing pathetic for not fighting a Klitschko, if he wanted the fight to happen it he could have found a way to get the negotiations done, but he's bottled it for one reason or another. Haye shouldn't have gripes because of the TV deal or the split of the money... If he wants to get taken seriously by boxing fans on the world stage he has to try and get those belts off the Klitschkos, and if he has to do that by fighting in Germany on 40/60 then so be it. Beating up Fraudley isn't going to raise his stock any is it?!

And Fraudley is just a joke, how he is still here and fighting for a World Title is mystifying.
This fight is lose lose for English boxing; if he batters Harrison it proves Haye's a timewasting poseur who hasn't got the balls to go out of his comfort zone and put his money where his stupid mouth is. Or it'll show that Haye, the best heavyweight prospect we had in years isn't any better than an aging moron who never had the stones to take the big fights either. Depressing :(
They offered him a 50/50 split, and they even wanted to fight in london before Haye proved unable to secure a stadium for it

Unfortunately most deals full details are never revealed to the public. There are lots of reasons why fighters don't fight, sometimes it's ego other times it's money.

Anyway, i thought Haye has to fight a mandatory challenger and that happens to be Audrey?

Regardless, i want tickets to this one even though Haye will make Audrey look like an old woman!

Nope, Audley isn't even ranked in the top 10 of the WBA rankings. This is a purely voluntary bout chosen by Haye/his managers

That's ridiculous if that's true, where'd you read that? What a coward...
It was confirmed by both sides during radio interviews. Booth and Haye got out of it by saying that the Klitschkos need to break their TV contract in Germany as 'another' company was willing to pay more. It's a complete joke when he already signed to fight a year ago, and when he pulled out just two weeks before he was reportedly given the exact same contract but to fight Vitali, which he then moaned about the money with and went for the easier option in Valuev:confused:.

Id love to hear what Haye would say if the Klitschkos demanded the fight get shown on ITV because they would pay more

This fight is a joke, but boxing is business. It's probably the most interesting a fight Haye could drum up while being practically guaranteed of winning. That's the key, the more he fights as champion the more he wins. He doesn't want to fight a Klitschko now as if he loses he's back to not making anywhere near as much money again.

Which makes him an even bigger joke for running his mouth off over the past year or two when everyone can clearly see through him now :p

He also said he will retire by October 2011, this fight will really increase his legacy ;) Based on his level of "activity" that equates to like one more fight, beheaded by one of the Klitschkos I hope.

Have been a big fan of Haye over the years love his style of fights but I've lost a lot of respect for him for taking this fight over a fight with a Klitchko. I'd believed all the "I want the Klitchko brothers" talk we've had over the last couple of years but it looks like he's been all talk and not interested in it at all.

Audley to get this world title shot lets not forget has won prizefighter against a load of low quality British heavyweights and beat Michael Sprott (journeyman British heavyweight who sparked Audley out first time they met) in the 12th round whilst a mile behind on points! It's hardly like he's earnt a shot he's been picked as an easy touch who people in Britain have heard of to sell tickets.

Haye is very clever, he has been using the Klitchkos name for along time to promote his own fights and build up his own reputation but has always pussied out of fighting them for one reason or another. Another hope for a spectacular DOUBLE KO lol :D

I think it is going to be a lot tougher for Haye than people are making out. Harrison is really really hungry and believes that this title is what he deserves. When someone is that deluded they can perform miracles. Harrison is also a good four or five inches taller which gives him the reach advantage and a fair bit more power without sacrificing as much speed as Valuev.

If Harrison can land a couple of those left hands like the one that ended Sprott it will be a very interesting fight.

Ordinary getting a title shot shows how poor the heavyweight division is and although Haye should have no problem whatsoever, I think you will see the most motivated Ordinary yet and he could cause Haye a few problems.

This rubber stamps how poor the division is.

Audley Harrison should not be allowed anywhere near a challenge for one of the three mainstream belts.

I like Haye. He is a likeable character, a very good fighter and I wish him well but he has nothing to gain from fighting Harrison.

He should be fighting the Klitschko brothers.

I can't decide if he has what it takes to beat Vitali but I think Haye would take Wladimir apart.

The klitschko/Haye story:

Early 2008: Haye unifies cruiserweight titles in ‘megafight’ with Enzo Maccarinelli. Announces his move up to heavyweight and begins publically taunting both Klitschko brothers and claiming the heavyweight division is full of bums and the Klitschkos are the only people worth fighting. Confronts Wladimir Klitschko at charity event in London:

Begins spouting rubbish about being the division saviour, doesn’t care about the money ‘just get me in a ring anywhere and Ill knock them both out, i wont moan about anything as long as a referee is able to count’ (an actual direct quote from haye, interview is somewhere on youtube)

Late 2008: Haye knocks out Monte Barrett. Vitali Klitschko is ring side and predicts Haye to win inside 5 rounds. Both take part in the post fight interview and Vitali and Haye agree on camera to fight in 2009.

December 2008: Haye shows Vitali Klitschko a picture of his dead brother with Haye holding his severed head. Vitali apparently loses the plot upon seeing the picture and attacks Haye in a London restaurant. Haye announces during a BBC interview that he will be fightin Vitali Klitschko in June, in London.

January 2009: Vitali/Haye fight falls through, I cant remember any word from Haye about it but apparently it was to do with Haye being unable to secure a stadium.

June 2009: Haye signs to fight against Wladimir Klitschko in a football stadium in Germany. Haye pulls out 2 weeks before the fight with a phantom ‘back injury’. Klitschko fights Chageav instead (who some people argued at the time was the WBA belt holder – Valuev shouldn’t have even had the belt when Haye fought him). Haye at the press conference wears T-Shirt with beheaded Klitschko brothers, continues his rhetoric that the entire division is full of bums, Klitschko are boring, ‘i am the saviour of the division’ etc etc. Even directly after the fight which he didn’t show up he was criticising how Chageav was a "bum" and "only there to pick up a pay check".

Mid/Late 2009: Haye handed exact same contract as he had signed with Wladimir but to fight Vitali. Haye refuses claiming its a "slave contract", "the Klitschkos aren’t showing me enough respect", bla bla bla and signs to fight Valuev instead.

November 2009: Haye beats valuev but finds himself in his own ‘slave contract’ with Sauerland who force him to fight Ruiz, and still have their logo on the adboards for the Harrison Haye fight. Haye now proclaims himself as "the" world heavyweight champion

April 2010: Haye beats Ruiz, once again claims the klitschkos just fight bums etc etc, all the insults under sun that he’s used for the past 2 years:

Klitschko posts video on youtube ‘calling out’ Haye:

Adam Booth attends interview on Sky Sports News on the same day:

Claims that Haye now suddenly will only fight in a 50/50 deal, while also rubbishing Harrison as a potential opponent, ‘haye cares about his legacy’ etc etc

5 months passes and absolutely no response from haye to the Klitschko video after 2 years of constant taunts and claims of how he was going to knock them both out.

It later emerges that Haye was offered a 50/50 deal of worldwide income, Haye then makes up a new criteria of 50/50 meaning ‘the total maximum income’ and says that the Klitschkos must break their long term TV deal in Germany with RTL and fight on another network that ‘might offer more money’

Haye signs to fight Audley Harrison, a man who was knocked out in 3 rounds and dominated for 12 by Wladimir's current sparring partners, so much for fighting bums then

This is way Haye has turned from something exciting to one of the most derided boxers worldwide.

Its ridiculous really, as he has a good chance of beating the Klitschkos, although obviously he has a good chance of losing as well. Vitali is a 40 year old OAP with grey hair, but Wlad is one of the biggest hitters probably ever but isn’t aggressive so needs boxers to come forward to really look good (which they never do as they seem to be scared of even his jab) and this is the fight everyone wants. Two massive hitters with questionable ability to take punches.
