WBA champion David Haye to "fight" Audley Harrison

well that's a pretty damning account of Haye, Patient Keeper thanks for posting it. It'll be absolutely poetic irony if the bum that is Fraudley gives Haye a money shot on the chin and he's KO'd.

Haye really is all mouth and no trousers, as impressive as his dismantling of Ruiz was, dodging the Klitschkos like this is ruining his reputation.

People seem to forget that boxing is about money at the end of the day and this is Hayes time. He needs to make as much money as he can while he is in the spot light and while fighting one of the Klitchko brothers would make him mone it also runs the serious risk of ending his time. So instead he fights the loudmouth British journey man that is Audley, the hype will be massive the fight will be a sell out and millions will tune in hoping one or other gets battered. Haye knows he should win so sees this as a safer way to make money, I'm sure he will take on one of the Klitchko's but not until he has made some money and secured his future.

I expect Haye to win but I wouldn't rule out an upset for all Audley's failings he does have genuine power in his left hand, it only takes one punch to win a title and it's happened before.

I've only posted some of the facts as well. Apparantly they first started getting suspicious that Haye had no intention of fighting when he made sure that it was them that had to pay for all the promo costs. There is so much backtracking and contradictions from Haye/Booth if you go through all the interviews on youtube and the BBC.

Everyone knows this but half the problem is that Haye spent the last two years berating the Klitschkos at every opportunity, it seems like now that he was literally just doing it for his own promotion and had no intention of ever fighting them until they start to get seriously old (which Vitali already is) or if at all. Like Wladimir has said in so many interviews what Haye is doing is disrespectful to him, the sport, and actual boxing fans - who aren't as thick as Haye is taking them for.

Therein lies the problem and why Haye has lost so many fans in boxing circles (casual fans don't know who is who so don't care who he fights) but the serious fans in general have had enough of his mouthing off.

If he was honest at the beginning and came out with, I'm not ready to fight them and need time, he wouldn't be getting so much stick at the moment. I am fairly sure he knows he would probably lose to either of the Klitschko brothers, if he was as confident as he says he is, he would have taken the chance. A stiff jab from either of them is almost enough to knock him down ;) Haye is also slowing down from the looks of things, seems to have put on too much fat and muscle in the Ruiz fight and based on the interviews over the past few days.

Basically what's happened is that a cocky unified cruiserweight champ stepped up to heavy and looked like he could be the guy who finally beats the Klits who have easily ruled over the division for such a long (and extremely boring) time.

Unfortunately since then his weaknesses at this weight have been highlighted. He's small, his stamina is terrible, his chin is questionable and his greatest strengths - his speed and power - have not stood out. His performance against Valuev was not even as convincing as Holyfield's, and against Ruiz, Haye's defence looked pretty awful.

On paper it now looks like a straight forward victory for either Klit, so Haye's going to prolong his journey a little bit by fighting the lowliest bum he can get away with facing. Enter Harrison.

Personally I'd like to see Haye vs Adamek. I think that's a great match up and it would make sense given their cruiserweight records. It's a high risk encounter though, so that ain't going to happen. But there's other guys like Povetkin, Chambers, Dimitrenko, Arreola, all of whom are a million times better than Harrison.

I kinda believe him tbh.

omg, hes a joke, he is the challenger, what gave him the right to make all these requests?

he would be making more than enough money on a 60/40 split (his being 40), yet refuses to fight on a 50/50 contract citing that RTL arent going to give him enough money, thats just 1 piece of the pie, im sure the rest of the pie would be more than enough for haye to retire off. they have called him out and he refuses to sign their contract. when he hold their belts he can then demand more money, but not as a challenger.

what a tool. big greedy nonce. just sign the contract and if you beat them, then you can make the contracts. they are the biggest names in the division not Haye.

The most ironic thing is is that he already signed the contracts to fight and then as Wladimir says, 'bitched out'.

That video from Haye's twitter is so cringeworthy, it says nothing that Booth and the Klitschko's hadnt already said other than him rewording it to sound better: 50/50 stressing the MAXIMUM INCOME part which has magically appeared. There is no PPV in Germany, and how can the Klitschko's break a long term contract which they will end up in massive legal trouble for? What if the Klitschkos demanded the fight get shown on ITV or BBC because they reckon they would pay more? What would Haye say then?

And it was after 5 months of waiting for him to respond to Wladimir's video, and yet when Audley insulted him on twitter he retaliated in about a day.... Also for him to start claiming the Klitschkos have ducked Valuev and Ruiz (which is so far from the truth I'm suprised they dont sue him), is the last straw, the man just shows no respect for the intelligence of his fans, he is literally out to con the misinformed British public.

Haye's always been a talker, and never a very good boxer. Audley is massively under rated because people got into the hype and his career was ruined with promoters who just wanted to milk his gold medal rather than get him up to standard quickly against good opposition. He's had injuries, car crashes and wasn't young to start with, people also seem to forget Audley is bloody massive.

He's technically a VERY good fighter, I think there aren't many heavyweights who throw the combinations he does, but I think a mix of age, constantly interupted professional career and stupid promoters sending him out against bums for 3-4 rounds he doesn't have the stamina to throw as he can for a whole fight.

The sprott fight was impressive, took out one arm early in the fight, stood up to everything easily and the quality of the punch to finish it was pretty immense. I remember several of the early fights when he turned pro, after a few very quick fights IIRC he basically put his arms down and took hits (or tried to) against someone else for 5-6 rounds before he threw a couple combo's and his opponent was out. If he'd been up against better people quicker, and got up to speed before he got quite so old I think his career could have turned out very differently.

Thing is he's still huge, he's heavy, he can take a punch, when he wants to he can defend and he can throw a great combo.

Neither of them have really had a decent fight against anyone noteworthy IMHO, both have been treated like many british fighters by their promoters, talk a good game, never take the big fight.

Haye would get VERY easily beaten by either Klitschko, I'll laugh a lot if Audley puts in a good fight and wins, he's old though, but recent picks at press conference he looks huge next to Haye, he's only 3 inches taller but the difference looked far bigger, and Audley has a 8 inch reach advantage and unlike Valuev, might actually throw a punch in this fight.

I agree with pretty much everything DM has said there. The photo above really shows the difference and as I mentioned somewhere else, Harrison has much of the [pwer of Valuev without sacrificing as much speed.

Also, purely aesthetically, why can't Haye wear a suit? He looks so yobbish.
