Hi all,

Ordering new pc parts on friday, Bonus Pay :).

i7 2600k
Asus P8P67 PRO
Corsair Hydro H50-1
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz
Antec 300

And 2 Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB SATA 6Gb/s

My question to the peeps on these great forums who are wise and full of knowledge, is

How would these two hard drives setup in raid 0 compare in speed and boot times to a SSD drive like the Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s.

Also after reading reviews about the WD drives most if not all review sites recommend setting a small partition on the front of these drives for the OS, to help speed and defragmentation. But is it possible to the create say a 100gb partition on each drive and setup those two 100gb partitions in raid0 or would it have to be the whole drive.

.

I recently had to RMA my SSDs and revert to a Mechanical HD again (Gen 2 Raptor) and I've found it painful quite frankly, both in terms of system responsiveness and noise. I'd get a 120gb SSD for windows and apps with 1 caviar for storage.

I remember reading another topic and someone mentioned putting two 150gb Raptor drives in a RAID 0 and while it did perform well it couldn't match an SSD. Especially on the read speeds.
