This will be the worst guide in history to see how to make moviesheets using a external HDD, I’m sure you can do it through a network but not quite sure how. A change in the S00 I presume.
To start off with you will need to get the custom firmware.
this is mine It’s the most up to date version (1.02.21_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.3.1) Just got to extract it.
One you’ve extracted it there will be a few files and a folder. The main file is the S00custom-options one. If you open it up in wordpad you’re see that everything has ## or a # in front of it. The ## (text here) is just explaining what the one below with only a # is.
If you search for
Code:
## eM82's backdrop background
you’re see that it has the ## explaining what it is. Below is the
Code:
config_tool -c BACKGROUND_IMAGE=eM82_bg.jpg
Without a #. It was originally
Code:
# config_tool -c BACKGROUND_IMAGE=eM82_bg.jpg
But I wanted to use that background so I took away the #
If you also search for
You will also see that the screen saver image blow doesn’t have a # in front of it.
Code:
config_tool -c SCREEN_SAVER_IMAGE=screen_saver.png
So you get the point of how things work and you change settings.
Now for the moviesheets part. If you search for
Code:
## you must turn it on for a view type to see sheets!
your see that
Code:
## video thumb mode
config_tool -c VIDMSHEET=ON
## audio/photo thumb mode
config_tool -c GENMSHEET=ON
## list mode (video/audio/photo)
config_tool -c LISTMSHEET=ON
all three of them don’t have the # in front of the config_tool. You need this for all three of them.
So the only bit you might want to change is the bit above. On the paragraph above you’re see
Code:
## Movie sheet modes (only one can be enabled at a time)
And then
Code:
## Full screen std mode:
#config_tool -c MSHEETMODE=std
## 1280x460 (horizontal banner at top) sheet mode:
config_tool -c MSHEETMODE=sheet
## 500x720 (vertical banner on right) wall mode:
#config_tool -c MSHEETMODE=wall
I use the second mode (sheet mode) so I have removed the #. As it says you can only use one. The differences are simply what they look like. Here’s a few templates of each mode.
http://i44.tinypic.com/2lnwsw4.jpg This is the Sheet mode (the type I use)
http://i39.tinypic.com/viljsj.jpg This is the STD mode.
http://i43.tinypic.com/2enoz7o.jpg Wall mode
I’ll put links to where you can get templates from at the end.
So you need to have a look through the templates and see what you like. I prefer the sheet ones personally. If you choose the STD mode or wall mode. You need to go into the S00 file again, and change the bit quoted above. So add a # to the config_tool -c MSHEETMODE=sheet and take away the # for the type of mode you want.
You will have to download the templates and put them in the Templates folder in the Thumbgen install directory, also there is sometimes a file to go into the Profiles folder. There’s always been a readme when I’ve installed them.
Making moviesheets
You’re now need a program called thumbgen.
http://thumbgen.blogspot.com/
One you have it loaded if you click the ‘home’ tab in the top left corner you’re then see Current profile: Change this to WDTVLiveMovie Sheet, then click the save icon. On the right of that I also checked the box “Detect movie based on folder name” you can also tick “Prompt for keywords before every search”
Below you’re see a table with all different websites names on. I’ve never known what one to go on really. These are just the sources thumbgen will get its pictures, movie info from.
Now if you click the File tab you’re see ‘options’ click that. I’m still not 100% sure of settings here but mine work fine so.

http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/584/25402992.png
http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/9518/21645050.png
Just three different tabs on the left of my settings. The one you need to make sure is ok is the third one. Input/Output naming. You need to make sure that the Main moviesheet is in that format $M/$N$_sheet .jpg. Also the extra thumbnail as well needs to be with the /folder.jpg. Just put my settings down
On the Moviesheet properties you’re see on the right it says ‘Current Moviesheet templates’ you can just change your template here.
Now you need to click the process file/folders button back on the ‘home’ tab.
That’s what mine looks like.
Once you’ve clicked process file/folders – give it a minute to load if needed. Your then see your computer files on the left. Simply go to where your films are stored and tick the box for the ones you want to make a moviesheet for. In my case I just ticked the 720p box. Your now see at the top there is different types of modes. Manual, semi auto, auto, I’m feeling lucky and metadata. They all say what they do if you scroll over them. I prefer to use Manual, it takes a bit of time but I like to make sure it works ok.
A photo of briefly mentioning a few things of what you’re seeing. I’ve only done this for a few days and am still getting to grips with it. Some movies don’t even find information which is a pain so got to hit up google and copy paste etc =/ So a lot of this is playing around!

Once you’ve click generate it will move you onto the next one. So now if you open up the location of where your movie was you should see :
• Folder.jpg
• Moviename.fileextension_sheet.jpg (Toy Story 3 2010 720p.jpg)
• Moviename.fileextension.tgmd (Toy Story 3 2010 720p.mkv.tgmd)
• Moviename.jpg (Toy Story 3 2010 720p.mkv_sheet.jpg)
So I have all those new files in a folder with my mkv file.
D:\720p\Toy Story 3 720p\
Toy Story 3 720p.mkv
Toy Story 3 2010 720p.mkv.tgmd
Toy Story 3 2010 720p.mkv_sheet.jpg)
Toy Story 3 2010 720p.jpg
Folder.jpg
Installing the custom firmware
Put all of those files from earlier on a flash memory stick (fat32)
Unplug the WDTV, take out EVERY USB if any are plugged in.
Put in the memory stick with custom firmware. Plug the WDTV back in. Turn it on. You should see it says about a update. Click it and say yes update.
Now you just wait, it will restart and do its thing.
Done.. You can now remove the memory stick and delete the firmware.
Now you can plug in your HDD with the movie folder on with the movie inside and all of the extra files. And if you go into ‘video in the wdtv menu and then click ‘Folders’ instead of All Video. You should hopefully see the moviesheets. You might need to go into the settings menu on the wdtv, video settings. Then it will say like List view or thumbnail view. Just change to the other.

I hope this make's some sense -.- So damn long lol
Currently two of my movies don't show the moviesheet unless I click on the folder... not sure why, but not a massive deal.
A disgusting picture of of what mine looks like.
