WD Passport capacity mismatch – Windows versus Chromebook

I have a WD My Passport 1TB, but my Windows 10-powered PC says capacity is only 465GB, while my Chromebook says capacity is 1TB (ish). Windows is up to date.

Data Lifeguard Diagnostics (run on Windows) also found 1TB. The Windows PC, an Onkyo, is admittedly a little old.

Any idea what explains the discrepancy? Baffled. Tried reformatting on the PC to no avail…

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks for responding...

NTFS file system, healthy status (basic file partition), 465.63GB capacity. No other partitions as I understand it. If there were, there would be another nearly 500GB on another volume, right?

As I say, nearly 1TB showing on the Chromebook.

That is strange.
Do you have anything stored on the WD Passport ? Can you try deleting the partition to see if that ‘reveals’ anything else ?

Might also be worth deleting and recreating the partition on the chromebook to see what that does.
