we dont need no education song

^^What he said. Eric Prydz is a lyrical genious with a great understanding of how society works.

So I take it that there's another video of half-dressed women to go with it?

Whilst the song does have a beat, it's still depressing that modern artists have to steal material from older artists. Girls Aloud are probably the most notorious for doing this. Do you think Pink Floyd themselves gave Prydz permission to do this, or was it the record company?

Eric Prydz is mainly a remixer though from what I understand so it is somewhat inevitable that he will be 'stealing' material from other artists. I'm not sure why you are picking on Girls Aloud though, I'm not a huge fan personally but they do have a fair selection of their own songs that were written especially for them, admittedly they did cover Jump, Love Machine and possibly a couple more but they are no worse than most for doing so.

I'd imagine that Eric Prydz got his record company to approach Pink Floyds (they might be the same company for all I know) and ask to use the material, the record company then probably checked with Pink Floyd (either out of courtesy or because Pink Floyd still own the moral and economic rights) and it was then given the ok. :)

prydz made the track agges ago but went through all sorts of problems getting pink floyd to clear the samples for it ( theyve never allowed anyone elese EVER to sample there stuff by the way )

im guessing allot of money was offered :p

They also let Scissor Sisters murder Comfortably Numb:(

its a shame eric lets his productions get way too commercial, i first heard proper education on eddie halliwells radio1 show back in october, but its getting overplayed now :( shame cos he is a very talented producer and DJ, as some of his stuff on his pryda friends label shows :)

the sebastian ingrosso mix is the best imo

edit 2 - the tunes called proper education in case you were wondering :)

The Miracles did a song of the same name, I haven't heard it for a while so I can't recall if it was indeed the same song. I might have just associated the titles in my head. :)

I'll check it out.

With the exception of 'call on me' his productions certainly aren't commercial. Eric Prydz is very talented and certainly doesn't 'need' to 'steal' work from other artists (as someone earlier suggested). He's one of the best (imo) and certainly one of the most acclaimed house artists in the world at the minute. His tracks under the alias 'pryda' are normally nothing short of superb. Proper education is a good track that's been knocking around for ages now and it's only getting commercial attention because it's a cover of pink floyd, completely irrelevant of the quality of the track

thats what i was trying to imply - badly, call on me and proper education have got a bit too commercial and people usually associate him with cheese, when his pryda stuff etc is very good :D
