We hate Valentines thread

Why does it take one day in the year to show your partner you love them?
Why is there so much hype surrounding this day? It's just a marketing gimmick blown out of proportion by large scale companies wanting to make money!

It's such a shame seeing so many people buying expensive gifts for their partners. It's rubbish.

I hate Valentines. :mad:

One other reason may be due to me not having a g/f but :mad:

Because its a celebration of all the other days you've shown her you love her. Like your birthday is a celebration of the years you've lived.
Plus like i said in another thread, it keeps her happy, don't need another reason to upset her.

Oooo look at me. I'm just so unconformist the thought of celebrating any day which is moderately commercial disgusts me. I mean, how totally capitalist of everyone to support it. Mindless drones all conforming to the norm clearly too ignorent of how such conformity is a social disease.

I got told of last year ,she got chocs and red rose but no card !
This year red rose ,cuddly toy and card !

I show and tell her pretty much every day, but it's fun to wind her up by spending money on her, and Valentine's day is a great excuse to do so.

Yes it is stupid, especially the commercialism of it these days, but I do it for the fact if I spend money on her then she gets annoyed at me, especially on an 'occasion' such as today because she won't be spending any on me.

Yeah, that'll be the reason you don't like it.

I don't like it either, is a stupid day that makes everyone stupid, although I'm glad I'm not in school any more, god is was dire then.

What I meant to say is we don't need a day to express something that's self explanitory - the guy/woman loving their partner. And we don't need expensive gifts to illustrate this.

I don't mind Valentines day as a day to get in touch with someone you would like to be with. I don't think it should be used as a how muh do you love me day. If I think a girl is special I'll let her know, one day a year isn't enough.

Being single on valentines day is so much better than fannying about trying to keep a woman happy. I love it.
