wear your poppy with pride

This time of year always makes me uncomfortable, in that I've no inclination whatsoever to celebrate pointless death, past or present, and I've never met anyone who quite shares my sentiments. Never mind.

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori.

I'm not going to support this nationalist, crypto-racist drivel.

"I have no country to fight for, my country is the earth, I am a citizen of the world. "

crypto-racist ?? Having a giraffe, right ?

You do realise that the people of the wars that 11/11 remembers were fighting AGAINST such things?

Yeah yeah, don't feed the troll but I still felt it necessary to show how BS his statement is.

Shame so many people died so that you could be a citizen of the world. You’re just an indication of what many of the people in this country are, ill unformed, uneducated and disrespectful dolts.

I get mine as soon as they are available. It’s never too early or too late to remember the one’s that gave the ultimate sacrifice. :)

What a total idiot. I call ban!

Literally 0% of your troll post is correct. Well done on failing at life.

"I have no country to fight for, my country is the earth, I am a citizen of the world. "

"No man is an Island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind " - Donne. [Emphasis my own]

It is still possible to be a citizen of the World and of the state at the same time. These people and their acts should be remembered. It is one of the reasons we live so comfortably in this country today.

Along the same kind of lines i'd be quite intersted in volounteering for something like help for heroes.

I always get my poppy every year without fail.

I donate but I choose not to wear a poppy. I dislike the fact that many people do it to be seen doing it and wear the symbol as a fashion accessory, but it is still a cause I support. It also hopefuly means less resources are consumed.

That's fair enough to be honest :D

It irks me when EVERY presenter on TV around this time has a poppy on. I wonder how many of them actually donated personally or whether they were just given them in make-up...

They HAVE to wear them, which really gets to me. Remember when Johnathon Ross had the digital one superimposed becasue they forgot to give him one?

It should be a choice, not something which forces them to wear them. Which is exactly what it is on the TV.

TV presenters don't HAVE to wear them, see here. Although it would seem there is pressure to do so.

Can't believe some of the comments in here. If you don't want to wear one then don't, but leave us who do in peace. Quite like the look of those wristbands, might get one of them as well this year.
